anyone have a current working link to the electrical schematics for the 944S2 please ?

I have searched the net for the past hour without a single result . Nothing working at Cannel or Pelican or Clarkes etc
I have an old CD workshop manual but it won't play with Windows 7 grrrr

Hi - I cant find any either so lets look at the CD issue. Don't know if you are handy on computers so forgive me if you've tried this already. Try "exploring" the CD rather than trying to "play" it. Using "My Computer" you should see the mounted CD and then right click on it and choose explore. Hopefully you will see each volume of the content in separate files. You should be able to view them by double clicking. If this doesn't work you may have to install Adobe Reader as Windows 7 comes with its own PDF viewer that is not 100% compatible (usually not a problem but sometimes is). This method lets you view the document and page around, etc but hotlinks and search, etc. won't work like it did with the CD.

Hmmm - found this one http://www.manualslib.com/download/392533/Porsche-944-Volume-5-Electrical.html - seemed to work. Not easy to find all volumes, etc. but it was free.

blimeyolriley where on earth did you find that ?!

I must have trawled the net for more than 2 hours last night ..

Thanks buddy . I'll have to rake out and old laptop with Win XP or Vista and see if I can extract files from my CD's I tried to search the files but the file format is encoded unfortunately.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHh it only goes up to 1998 944S type [&o]

Maybe a 944S2 electrical schematic does not exist ?

Yes the S2 is included in the later versions of the manual.

Hopefully the encoding is just compression - try winzip or any other of the free zip file utilities you can find on the net.
Or - you could try this...

thanks for the suggestion but I like to keep my pc free of unecessary software as far as possible. I have a spare pc with WinXP stored somewhere but I'm not even sure what is on the 944 cd's now as it has been several years since I last installed it.

Its installed on the CD's as a program that runs when you insert the CD. I suspect it is sold that way so that you cannot seperate files and sell them .

I'm not knocking it Oli if it wasn't for some essential software that only runs in Windows I'd ditch Microsoft in a heartbeat.

Sorry to hear that Peanut - I take it you couldn't run what you need through an emulator? (Having said that, I'm not a big fan of emulators as they are usually a boat-load of grief. Going to *nix is best done if you can do it entirely, using proper software for the new platform.)

I feel your M$ pain. I ditched it about 5 years ago and haven't looked back once.

Oli.
