944S2 no start cured

thought I ought to give a little feedback on my recent no start problem. I confess I made the mistake of assuming the problem was lack of fuel or water/dirt in the fuel because I ran the tank dry the day before the problem started and the engine did fire a couple of times.

I therefore checked that I had a spark on No1 then concentrated on the injection system.I checked DME voltages from battery to injectors and fuel pump . Checked fuel pressure and depressurization time all ok

Checked vacumn pipes , crank sensor ,cold start valve, temperature sensor and TPS .Checked resistance of injectors, temp sensors AFM Crank Sensor Cold start etc all ok

Cleaned every electrical connection I could see including all the main ground points All ok.

Whilst checking the 12v supply to the injectors I found only 1v+ on both terminals. ? replaced DME same 1v+ voltage.wtf ? replaced DME with 3 way jumper and pump ran and cold start activated . Injector voltage back to 12v+?

Noticed distributer cap wet with condensation so removed cap and filed terminals and rotar and cleaned and dried inside of cap. Removed and cleaned terminals of coil also.

Running out of ideas now so decided to pull all the spark plugs which were new 500 miles ago.
Look what i found !

I filed the edges cleaned them up with spirit and popped them in the oven gas mark 3 [;)] put the plugs back in hot and with a jump from a spare battery she fired up.

It still took 5-6 minutes before the engine was firing smoothly on all pots so there are still some issues there somewhere but for now it runs and i celebrated with a spirited run up to the garage for some more gas[:D]

Good progress that man. Thanks for the update.

Carry on going. It sounds like you are nearly there. (Is it beyond the realms of possibility that a good Italian tune-up may solve it?!?)

Oli.

They look wet but serviceable.

I agree about the Italian method of drying out overfuelled plugs though [;)]

no they are not servicable otherwise the car would have started
I hope your plugs don't look like that[;)]

The main reason for posting the pictures to to show the oil. It looks like the cam cover gasket is leaking into a couple of plug tubes
