Do s2 wings bolt straight on or do they require any welding to fix them on correctly.Looking at all the bolts on the top edge under the bonnet i was wondering if they'de be easy to replace if damaged.

Just because the wings are bolt on doesn't mean they are easily replaced. They still require a significant amount of fettling to get the lines and the gaps right which is why bodyshops will always try to repair a rusted wing with welded patches rather than replace the wing.

I have rust at the bottom of my front wing (behind the wurth) which is patched up with fibre glass as a temporary repair. When i enquired about a more perminant repair I was told that it was better to repalce the whole wing, and that filler attracts moisture. He didn't mention a welded up repair.

Does it sound like I do need a new wing or are there other ways round it. The wing is perfect other than the bit behind the wurth so it seems a shame to me to replace it.

I'd prefer new metal let into the original wing and using the wrinkliness of new Wurth to help disguise the join. [FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Believe it or not I had to cut the bottom corners off my perfect front wings with a jigsaw to fit the 968 skirts...[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

My car is also suffering from rust at the bottom of the wing behind the Wruth and none of the bodyshops I took my car to recommended either a wing replacement or filling with fibreglass. They all said they would make up a patch to weld in. Prices came in ranging from £300 to £500 which included spraying the whole wing in to match the rest of the car and a full body machine polish.. They said a wing replacement would cost at least that plus the cost of the wing.

Now i've been rear ended and my car is in the body shop courtesy of the third parties insurers i'm getting this all done effectively for free!!
