My 220hp turbo has failed the MOT on offside front lower suspension arm having excessive play in the ball joint. I would guess that this is not an unknown problem on 944's and it's probably been discussed before on the Forum but it's new to me so any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi
Yes they do go - easy and cheap on the square dash cars - easy but expensive on the later alloy arms

Hope it helps.

It was around £200 after surcharges being refunded when I changed my lower arm.
Quite cheeky but I wonder whether the earlier lower arms could be used on a 220 Turbo which have replacable balljoints and arguably are not really any lighter than the steel items and it seems to be a much cheaper solution too.

Yes the refurbed ones are good value (relatively speaking !) I got Promax to replace both of mine last year and am pretty certain they sourced them from Hartech.

Hartech for refurbs, or a used 968 part from Simon Butterworth might make good. They have a 944 as opposed to a 951 part number, are identical dimensionally but a little more durable. This assumes that you have an ABS offset car: if not then Hartech are the only sensible solution.
