951 : '89 Cup or '91 ?

Hello,

I would have liked to know which you would choose.

1) '89 Cup
Car did both the '89 and '90 french turbo Cup trophy.
~40k miles.
Comes with rebuilt engine with its original 1990 Cup France 300bhp kit, all the Cup goodies (reconditioned Bilsteins, magnesium PDs, brake proportioning handle, full roll cage, etc).
£10k.
Pros : lots of new/rebuilt parts ; the owner is one of my best friends and I know exacly what is being done to the car.
Cons : looks like a Cup that had a Cup life ... The shell does not seem to be bent but I saw period videos of the trophy in which it was involved in impressive accidents but another chap I know who drove it said it felt as straight as his own Cup.

1) '91 951
Rare Velvet red with turbo S interior (but very shiny unlike most and actually nice to look at)
No particular extra apart from targa roof.
95k miles.
£7k
Pros : Unmolested car in nice original condition, never ever modified, belts and WP done. Engine and trans work and sound as they should. Comes from another friend who regularly imports very clean 944s/928s from Germany.
Cons : original condition as in original shocks and clutch.

In any case my S2 is staying.

If your keeping the S2 then I would go for the cup, Its already been well played with so have some fun with it.

I have a standard Lux thats only done 60k and it is staying standard.

My Turbo has been reshelled and not much of the orginal car remains, I have already had my money's worth of fun. When I bump it, I fix it and if I blow it up, I will rebuild it (only faster)

Standard or cup.....enjoy it

I bet the standard Turbo does not stay standard for long.

Personally I would say Cup,and at that price I think its a bargain.

Is this the one he's been trying to sell for about 18 months - two years? It's come down an awful lot in price (now where's my chequebook [;)][:D])

Paul, the one you're refering to is, I think, the one in Switzerland. It's still priced at €24k, which turns into quite a lot of money after import taxes are included [:(]
The one here comes at a good price as my friend just wants out of it (he's afraid of killing himself in it) and it really does not flatter one's eyes.

Ah, it's a rough looker...............I'll give him £5k then

not that there is anything wrong with a rough looker
