Hi all,

Not been on in a good while, been off in foreign lands and Faye stayed at home ...
Now I'm back and getting her back on the road.

But anyways, back to the task at hand !

Deep into a A0R Turbo S gearbox build, and just found out that one of the bearings,
an "Input Shaft Needle Bearing", is no longer available from Porsche.

In the attached diagram it's part number 15.
Johnathan in parts in Belfast told me the original part number was
083311123TPP,
which later changed to
99920147600

Anyone have any idea where I could get a hold of one of these puppies ?

Any advice greatly appreciated !
Thomas

Hi Thomas

I'd try one of the bearing specialists... the bearing must be available somewhere... try these people..

Thanks for the link Pete !

Still investigating options, only found out this morning it wasn't a stock item anymore.

Great to know there's a good online bearing specialist to try, we have to get the measurements
and see what's what with her.

I'll second what Pete said; there's nothing magical about many of the bearings used in a 944. If you can find the dimensions and specifications then I expect it is available very cheaply off the shelf from Bearing King.

Oli.

You can almost always get the bearings, of equal quality but for far less, from bearing specialists. The tricky part will be identifying the generic description for the Porsche part.

Not a great deal of help, but a positive note none the less.

Take the original bearing to your local BSL branch. They'll identify it for you, and sell you a replacement at a competitive cost.

BSL are good and if you have the bearing type and its dimensions, (there are only 3) then put skf.com into google and have a hunt around there.
good luck

IKC - would that be Canon / Ricoh / Oce? or do you kill 'em all :)

It appears we are wrong - this thing is in no way standard !!!

It's a FAG Bearing, number 310 - 4088, made special order for Porsche it seems
39mm outer diameter, 30mm bore, 21mm width.

FAG haven't made them in at least a decade, and couldn't help me.

Tried some Porsche dealers in USA aswell, they don't have it either.

Also Lindsey on the off chance, no luck.

There's one or two numbers I've yet to try, but not looking good.

I can get a 40mm x 30mm x 20mm bearing, so may buy one of those
and see what can be machined off what and made to fit.
