955 purchase

I'm thinking of buying a Cayenne 955 to use and as I won't be doing many miles per year, 1-2,000, I wondered what costs might be involved in that.

Does anyone have experience of running a 955 or have one for sale?

I would look for a 3.2 without air suspension and without sunroof. Less to go wrong. The 3.2 didn't have the coolant pipe problem, though most V8's of this age would have had them fixed. Drain holes for sunroof and rear tailgate were notorious for blocking and causing issues, both electrical and corrosion. Air suspension is expensive to fix, so steel springs cheaper. At that age, buy on condition and inspection. Servicing is not particularly expensive - it's the big ticket items that can bite - engine lights can spell disaster, brake consumables (it's a big heavy car) and electricals - make sure it all works.
Having said all that, they were lovely cars and have fond memories of my 4.5V8 S.

What's your use case?
- short trips (eg to Shops)
- longer / touring trips
- towing?

Not sure a deseasal for 1-2k miles pa will work

They’re all great cars and such good value, if you do decide to go for an early Cayenne S (4.5) don’t make the same mistake as me and just assume the water pipes have been changed make sure you get them checked or the history supports this.

Also, just for reference they didn’t put a diesel in the Cayenne 955, it wasn’t introduced until the 957 for the 2009 model so you’ll have more joy looking for a unicorn.

I'll bow to your knowledge but Wiki does list the deseasal for the First generation (E1 9PA; 2002), albeit as you day from 2009.
