The burning question...
Is this also related to the 964 demise?
If you can find the dosh, I'd go for 993 but prices seem to be holding firm. There's quite a few in current edition of 911 & PW
Having said that, what a difficult decision to make. Although ( collectors ) logic argues that the 993 Turbo 4 is the last of the air cooled supercars, and thus always the most desireable, there is a seemingly growing groundswell of opinion that the 964 Turbo 2 3.6, as the last of the single turbo 911's, is more true to the original concept. They are very fine cars indeed, and there are only 42 of them in RHD.
Have fun making the decision, and be sure to let us know which way you jumped, and why!

Thanks John. had a look at a few of each at Brands yesterday.
I'm going to drive examples of both, but I seem to be leaning towards a silver 993.... Maybe.
PS tallmat, flames not an issue.
Armco was. At 40mph.
As was a 7kg concrete block left in the roadworks by Balfour Beatty...

Keep a note of your losses etc.
Good luck - this may well pay some or all of the cost of the new car.

There does seem to be a lot of 993tt`s on the market at the moment. I`ve had a look at 6 of them so far and to be quite honest, been very disappointed with what I have seen so far. Some have been private sales and some have been at Porsche specialists. I think too much emphasis is being placed on the fact that they are the last of the air cooled turbos to justify the price being asked by the sellers. At the end of the day a car with a £40 - 50k price tag still has to be a very nice example if you want to sell it at that price.
IMHO all of cars I`ve seen so far have been well over priced for their condition. I hate to admit it, but the lure of a pristine 2001 996tt with very low mileage for the £50k region gets stronger as more 993tt viewings go by.
Strasse have had a couple in for a long time now and have secently dropped £4k of the original asking price. I went to see both about a month ago.
