964 Buying Advice

That looks plenty to get a good one, but don't get too hung up on higher miles. Those cars will likely have had some extensive engine work (top end re-build, etc), whereas lower mileage cars may be approaching that. Go on the overall condition/history.
 
Pistonheads is pretty good, also try 911uk.com. Have you tried putting a wanted ad on here (in the for sale area)?
 
Hi All,

I've been looking to purchase a 964 coupe for the past 3-4 months without any success!. I am looking for a manual in good condition and have up to 15-16k to spend. I check pistonheads regularily and speak to a few specialists but nothing seems to come in budget that hasn't done a very high mileage. Is my budget realistic to get a really good example? and any advice on where to look would be much appreciated.

alistair, I agree with the above.... mine has 136,000 miles on it and is in imaculate condition and looks like a car with 20000 miles. I would 100% buy only on condition/service history. I have seen loads with 1/2 the miles of mine which i wouldnt touch.....rust/dents/scratches/poor interiors....etc. Mine does not leak any oil at all even with that type of miles......others do with much less miles. The problem is that many people that have a nice one dont want to sell!!! I would not sell mine ever.... milage is less important in my view as most things that are worn have been replaced......low miles is not always best.. Tim
 
When I was looking for my C4 I tried Pistonheads, the good old Autotrader and the classified section on eBay (works differnt to the auctions). I also found the list of Porsche specialists on 911uk.com to be helpful. Just keep an eye out on their websites. For example, I was looking for a 996 for a friend this morning and I noticed that Strasse in Leeds have just obtained a white 964 (looks nice and clean too :)) If you are close to a garage or two then a poke around or a few test drives helps :) Chris
 
....I would also recommend 911Virgin.com - when they get a 964 in, it's going to be a good example. Mine had done 155,000m and its Stunning :))) plus it had got a stack of paperwork to backup its history including an engine rebuild at JZM.... in 2006. I would also trust their judgement 100% (and no I'm not on the payroll ;) Good Luck !
 
Hiya - was yours the blue one with light interior that went a little while ago. Am about to buy from them too (possibly/probabaly...) - how has it driven since you bought it, any surprises? though obviously from your post you think it is a hoot ! was it around £15k? no need to share those details if you don't wish to of course All the best Des

Yup, I popped in to see the lads on Saturday and Dave said that it was straight in and straight out again! Hopefully this is the start of something good and the values are going to increase as demand increases :) They had a gorgeous LHD RS in silver in (for a clutch to be fitted). In fact they have too many gorgeous cars on the forecourt! Chris
