964 can you tell me what this tube is for in the engine

The tube shown in the engine photo is not connected can any one tell me where it connects and what it does.

That pipe and connector should connect to your distributor!

This was a mod done early on in the cars lives to combat the ozone gases?!? in the dual dizzie setup. Essential to aid life of the dizzie belts.

Some cars have had the pipe from the rear blower to the rear reflector disconnected and put to he dizzie. Some have an extra pipe and some use a t bar connector (if your lazy like me). See John Miles site for more info (www.porsche964.co.uk)

Dunno mate, mine was the same when I bought the car, fresh from a major service.
Maybe just a case of forgot to put it back on.

Mal,

As Rob said, there should also be a vent pipe connected to the rear centre light unit. This helps to minimise the condensation build-up inside the light unit.
