964 Devon Weekend - a further update

Just to give those of you who might have missed the odd post or two about the 964 Devon Weekend a quick update.

We currently have close on 20 cars confirmed for both days of the weekend with many more likely to turn up on either the Saturday or Sunday.

Plans are proceeding well for a fun day on Saturday with a lunch break at Castle Drogo "" details of the location can be found at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hbcache/property17.htm

For those who may have been contemplating coming don't be put off at this apparent late stage by potential problems with accommodation. Others have booked accommodation quite easily.

We have a growing International contingent and there are very few attendees from last year who are NOT coming this year "" so that shows it MUST have been good.

If you haven't done it yet please visit http://www.porsche964.co.uk/964weekend and confirm your interest "" you won't regret it I'm sure. We want to see all those 964s on John's back lawn!!

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave for the info.

Anybody else from the South East???

We have a tentative meet at the A34/A303 junction around 13:00/14:00 on 10th for a leisurely (??) drive down to Ashburton and environs. I know there are others from North London and Reading and wondered if you'd like to meet up for a convoy, avoiding the boredom of the M4/M5.

Please respond here.

Regards

Dave

Watch for the fixed cameras and the mobile vans on the A303.

Lats time i went down to John's place, the road was full of them!

I am planning that route on Friday - what time do you have in mind???

Jeff,

Not fixed in stone - but suggestions are around 1:00 to 2:00pm. It might change depending on others preferences but to allow for a relaxing drive and getting there in time to have a meal and a drink it seems about right.

Thanks for the tip about the scameras Tim!!!

I was thinking of leaving (Ascot) around 1200-1230 so 1300 at the A30/A303 would be perfect...

Jeff,

Have you any idea if there is any convenient parking near to that junction. A lay-by or somewhere a few cars can wait. If we get a few meeting up some will inevitably have to wait a while.

Any ideas???

Regards

Dave

BTW It was the A34/A303 junction - not the A30/A303.

Look like i will also be able to make the both days,, also staying Torquay,, looking for to it

Regards Tim

will be near there this afternoon - will try to find a suitable location and let you know...

For those of you who might have just received your June copy of Porsche Post, there appears to be a small typo on page 100 relating to the 964 Devon Weekend. It gives the date as June 12th/13th (which is, in fact, Sunday/Monday). The dates given here of 11th/12th ARE correct, being the Saturday and Sunday.

So, just to confirm, it's Saturday at John's place and Sunday at the Dart River Adventure Park.

See you all there.

Regards

Dave

no, ran out of time and had toi go straight to my meeting. I am often down that way but not before 12th!
we could say something like 'first pub on left after A34' and finalise by mobile??

Jeff,

It seems that there is a Little Chef near Longparish on the A303 between the A34 junction and Andover.

Details are as follows:

[FONT=courier new"]LITTLE CHEF LONGPARISH
NEAR
[FONT=verdana,geneva"]ANDOVER
HAMPSHIRE
SP11 6NJ
Telephone: 01264 720284
Fax: 01264 720284

As far as I can see it's on the eastbound carriageway but I don't think it's a dual carriageway at that point so should pose no problem. John Miles is coming up to London later in the week via that route so he's going to check it out. If all is well it looks like that might be a good choice.

Best regards

Dave
