I was putting the hood up on my turbo bodied cab the other evening, when,as it was nearly up something broke in the mechanism. At the moment the motor still works when the button is pressed but the hood doesn't move.
It is possible to open and close the hood manually and if you preess the button on closing the hood the lugs locate electrically.
Does anyone know who specializes in this type of repair in the Silverstone/midlands area?
Thanks
Nick

Hi,

It sounds like the cables(s) have snapped between the hood motor(s) and the gearbox (just a guess..)

I had my gearboxes and cables replaced by the OPC (gearbox's are expensive - £255, cables themselves I believe are approx £118 each...)

There is not a huge amount of time involved in the replacement - 1 - 1.5 hrs

Any reliable independent should be able to do it, or in extremis, Silverstone OPC - ask for your PCGB discount [;)]

thanks for the info. I will probably take the covers off and have a look myself.
Just hope it's 'only' the cables snapped!
cheers

Last time you took the covers off and had a look yourself it wasn't pretty...

And it probably cost you more!
