Good evening folks , I have a 1991 964 c4 in need of an engine re build , it's got a noisy top end , valves have been set , so have decided to take the plunge and have the engine rebuilt , just wondering if there's any one in Scotland who has a good reputation for this type of work before I load up and head South of the border , obviously would like to keep the work being done nearer to home so I'm looking for first hand recomendations please .
Thanks in advance .

  • Thanks for the reply , I've done the Google search but no-one in Scotland flags up , I'm really looking for some first hand experiences of work done by Scottish specialists but if none come up its off south of the border we go .

All the companies I have listed are all Porsche specialist and all I would have thought are capable of a engine rebuilds .Google would not show up a specific name for a 964 engine rebuild .Call them all and ask the question

MB Engineering in Kendal. He built and maintains the engine in Raymond Boyd's successful 911 race car along with many other Scottish club members air cooled engines.
He specialises in building engines, where as the Porsche specialists mentioned previously service and repair cars. (With the exception of 9m).

RPM in Bearsden, just outside Glasgow should be able to handle the job. They've just serviced my 986 but previously carried out a top end rebuild of my 1982 SC. The owner Graham is a former OPC mechanic. Like Brian says, give the guys a call and they will talk you through the options.
