964 excitiment?

I test drove a C2 today and to be honest was a bit underwelmed [&:] I am use to my 2.4S which feels light, gives huge amounts of feedback & generally feels exciting & special.

The C2, which was 100% stock, felt heavy & 'grown up'

With modified suspension, weight loss etc can the 964 be made to feel more 'exciting' / responsive?

I still think I want a 964 but I do have this doubt in my mind [:(]

You can buy a 964 that does exactly this James.

It has a couple of letters after its name[;)]

C'mon James -you know it makes sense....[;)]

Renn Sport................

Over to you Des...........[:D] I will light blue touch paper and retire.....

Buy a C2, strip out the odds and sods you don't need, add decent suspension and lower it a tad, rolling road remap at say 9M or JZM. Hey Presto RS on the cheap.

kevin.

can you resist the hand grenade?

I will get an RS but not this year . Of course wether a 964RS or a 993RS is another question [;)][:D]

I'm prety sure i have ruled out a 964 C2.

Looks like its either the only 'lightweight' porsche within my budget.. a 968 Clubsport

Or the equivavalent ... a BMW E30 M3

Reference my email of the other night, the ride on a standard C2 can be improved upon immensely

RUF or equivalent suspension
Strut brace
Lowered (30mm approx)

and if you want it mainly as a cheaper alternative to an RS-start to strip it out
-replace seats with Recaro's
-replace door compartment with RS style door cards and take out electric motors, take out rear seats
-get lighter wheels

in the tuning stakes
i've gone for RUF ECU and RSR chip & cup pipe, you could also bin the standard air filter, but it adds more growl and no additional power.

Or get a good example with the above already done and let Colin Belton breathe on it. 300 Bhp is easily obtainable

Please God let me win the Lottery -Alois RUF here I come

:)

to go the

not sure how lightweight it really was - wasn't it only 50kilo lighter than standard car?

Nice though and getting very good value for money as the prices fall....

James,
Design 911 have what looks like an interesting cheaper alternative to an RS for sale. I suppose it depends on the price but it's got all the right stuff done already and only 59K miles too!
The stickers are removable & most people would paint the yellow bits black too I suspect.

It's just gone onto Ebay too HERE.

The design 911 car looks like it could be fun and if I were wanting a fun 964 track car, I think buying one with some of the work done is a very cost effective option. Doing it properly yourself would be expensive.

Worth a look James?

Wonder what it will go for, I'm in no rush to sell anyway so I'll hang on til someone who wants a perfect one comes along.

I'd be a bit bothered if it's a track car as it's bound to have been bashed, would be very surprised if it hasn't, that said it seems like it's got all the right options, close to mine also.

I would suggest you try another 964C2 as this is not the usual type of feedback we get.

Ref RS if you wait a year or two, I'm sure it will only cost you another £3k mor per annum!!
