964 Exhaust System?

65 mat

New member
Looking to upgrade the exhaust system on my Turbo. At present I still have the rear silencer (with cat) and then a G-Pipe on each side...I can just pass the noise test at Oulton (105 db). I am looking to remove the cat but am concerned about these stupid track day noise tests! What are my options?

Thanks, Matt.

Tell us more about your car, what is a turbo RSR?

Normally a g-pipe with cat on a 965 would not be that loud. Mine had headers, no cat, no silencer and no baffles in the tailpipes (ie. straight thru') and that was around 105dB. (plus flames!)

Idea, a sports cat will be quieter than a decat, but more freeflowing than a full cat. Scart do good stuff (but quality costs)

What is my car? Well basically it was originally built for Heinz Remmen, the owner of H+R Suspension, for endurance racing (but never raced I think?).It was therefore road registered in 1992. It was built for him by Jurgen Alzen Motorsport from a Cup Car shell (full welded-in Matter cage) and was fitted with an ali bonnet, thinner RS glass, turbo wings, turbo engine (3.3) and gearbox. The German log book says it is a " 965 TURBO RS" and with its recently fitted RSR rear spoiler, it looks almost like the 3.8 RSR factory racer. It carries a JA Motorsport chassis no. as opposed to a Porsche one. It has a DP Motorsport adjustable boost gauge and is run at 1.0 bar producing just over 360 bhp. Considering it weighs under 1300 kg, it is quite a quick car! Much quicker (or so it feels!) than my previous 964 RS.

Hi Matt,
Sorry haven't been on, so missed your post.
Your car sounds great. If the logbook says turbo RS, that is a first!
Can you post some pics?
And hope to see it in the flesh at one of the meets this year?
Also, can I suggest you get over to the rennlist forum and post your intro. Its a 964turbo dedicated sight and lots of useful info and the guys there will be very excited about your car. Tell them I sent you ;-)

Interesting car, I too would like to know more about it and some pics.

I view the Rennlist forum too, the people there would love to see your car.

To be honest guys, I'm not very good at posting pics on here (don't know how to...my mate did me my avatar!). If ChrisW comes along then I'm sure he will post one for us all.

Here is a link to a pic if you are interested.....
