964 Insurance valuation

With values apparently on the increase, can anyone suggest where I can go to get an accurate valuation for my insurance company?

You can have it valued for free through the club.
It does take a while though.
The other problem is that as they keep going up the value it will be out of date almost as soon as you receive it.
I had mine re-valued at the beginning of the year at £24k.

Thanks for response. The prices do indeed keep going up! Will see what is involved with PCGB as don't live too far away from Moreton in Marsh.

The brand new club website says that the club offers free valuations.....[8|]. I've heard that some folk have their car re-valued monthly to keep up with the price rises! With her ladyship having just acquired a 993 I think we may have to do the same![;)]

When did that stop then Steve?

It was mentioned in the members only section of the forum earlier this year but maybe there's been a U turn if it's now mentioned on the main website (as tscaptain mentions above)?

I don't think there's been a decision on valuations, and as far as I'm aware it's still offered.

Whether you go to the Club, an indie, or self-cert your valuation, it's going to need updating if prices change significantly.

I wonder if people have monthly updates to their valuation when the prices are dropping? [;)]

Presumably, and SWMBO with the 993 has yet to test this, the premium will increase along with the valuation? Similarly, the premium on mine should fall monthly along with the value of the car......[:(] Out of interest when I asked Locktons what they actually need with respect to re-valuations to the 993 they said just a letter on headed paper from a company/individual who knows something about values! So I took that to mean I can just pop in to PC Exeter and ask them to put a revised valuation on their headed paper without having to wait weeks for a club valuation. Worth asking one's own insurer what they actually require?

I just renewed with Lockton and I had to get an 'official' valuation done. The specialist who look after my car, JZM, knocked me one up, for free, which was acceptable to them. Previously I was with Classicline, who allow self certification up to £20K.

I presume you have to take your car to HQ to get it valued?

I think they just need some pics & info & a form to fill out, best call club office & ask what is required

The valuation was free!!!

JZM get quite excited about rebuilds, retrims and repaints, due to the sort of cars they sell, in order to give the biggest valuations. History is of great importance too.

My engine was rebuilt at around 120K, so only 35K miles ago, but that was too long ago for them. There is nothing wrong with the engine, so I won't be dropping £6-8K on a rebuild any time soon. I won't be spending £5K on a retrim, because it isn't going to really improve my driving experience, although replacing the drivers side bolster leather panel & a recolonisation are not beyond the realms of possibility. The bodywork is getting sorted as I go along, it's going in tomorrow for some ongoing restoration work.

Mine is a good honest car will a comprehensive history & is valued as such, but it's nowhere near the £30s to £40s that have been bandied about for the very best low mileage cars.

Colin,
That's a neat way of avoiding answering David's question but good to see you are going to re-colonise your 964-after all ,why should the Germans have it all their own way.[:D]

I just wish I could re-colonise our Guards Red 964 C2-but sadly until our properties sell,it's 924S's or nout[&o]

Values are getting sillier by the day. There's currently a C4 coupe on PH classifieds for £45K.

Steve, that is a really nice, no expense spared car though. It was at Spa with us last year

Agree it's nice and have read a lot about it but £45K is too much for any regular 964 IMHO.
