964 meeting at Center Gravity on 19th April

Hopefully any 964 owners reading this will have already received an e-mail from me regarding this meeting. If you haven't received this e-mail it can only mean that I don't have your e-mail address or the message has been dumped in your spam folder. If it's the former can you please e-mail me at 964@porscheclubgb.com as soon as possible to make sure you are on the e-mail list.

However, to the point:

Just a quick heads-up message to let you know that we have organised a meeting of 964 owners on 19th April at the offices and workshop of Center Gravity Ltd in Atherstone, Warwickshire. As you will realise, the 19th April is a Sunday, as is our usual habit, and we have planned to meet there at around 10:30am. Chris Franklin, the owner of CG, will be giving a presentation on the facilities and capabilities of CG and will more than likely be doing some practical demonstrations on one of the members 964. The full address is: Center Gravity Limited Academy Workshop 2 Brindley Close Holly Lane Industrial Estate Atherstone Warwickshire CV9 2QX Telephone: (01827) 718800 If you are interested in attending I would be grateful if you could indicate that fact by following this link and also indicate on that page from which direction you will be coming. There is plenty of time to arrange any meet-ups and convoys should you so wish.
Best regards
Dave

Hi Dave,

I would like to attend this event if possible. I was looking this year to address the suspension and handling of my car and on the back of your email last week, I contacted Chris and he is currently pricing up for Bilsteins/front and back anti roll bars, powerflex bushes and full geometry check.

Regards

Graham

Just to clarify an issue brought up in a phone call I had last night, I would like to assure any attendees to this event that it is completely free. All you need to do is turn up!!

We have something around 35 people registered for this currently so it's looking very promising.

Regards

Dave

I think we might need to marshall the parking because of the numbers. Perhaps get people to park on one side of the road only at a 45 degree angle? That would be good for photos too. [:)]

Oh... and I've just met a chap through 911UK that has a turbo look cab...I'll try to get him to come along [:)]

Steve,

I think it might be necessary for me to get there a little early. I'll tell Chris about the numbers so at least he'll be pre-warned!!

I think we'll be pretty lucky if everybody turns up but ... you never know!! It's either going to be a bright sunny day and everybody comes or it'll be pi$$ing down and no-one will come!!!

Dave

PS I have just spoken to Jayne and it seems that Matt has alreaady warned her of the numbers. It seems that Richard Good, the MD of KW Suspension may be there too as they have a project 964 to sort out.

Dave, have you got someone lined up to use their car for a demo? If not, I have a volunteer.

BTW it's not me because my new settings are secret! [;)]

Dave,

Might not make it now. Bloody car is in at the local indy for the last week awaiting clutch and LSD fitment, apparently clutch is done but labour problems on the LSD, they say it may not get back now for the weekend......bloody marvelous.......If I hadn't just landed a job after redundancies I'd be more furious than I am now.

Kevin

I've got the same problems Kevin, mine has been with the garage for 2 weeks now having the KW3s and replacement bushes. So far they have had 3 sets of bushes sent and all have been the incorrect size !!

NNOOOOOOOOooooooooooo. Don't do this to me!!!

Actually, I'm sitting here on tenderhooks hoping that I'm not in the same posiution. My car is at RPM since last week having a PDAS/ABS problem sorted. If Ollie doesn't get it sorted by Friday I might have to go in the Golf!!!

Never mind chaps - there is always another time.

Good news on the job Kevin - well done!!

Regards

Dave

Anyone travelling up Sunday from the South (Hampshire) and fancy meeting up en route?

Or is there a meeting place already planned at a services somwhere?

Bob.

That's bad news - mine was only in for 3 days to have the same stuff fitted...and would have been less if I wasn't having the engine carrier powder coated at the same time. Keep on their case Graham.

Bob,

I haven't seen mention of any en-route meets as yet. Many of the attendees are Rennlisters so it might be worth putting a mention on the Rennlist thread (click here). In the past we have used the M1 Services - most convenient likely to be Toddington being the first services north from the M25 link. Calling in at Newport Pagnell and Northampton services on the way up may be a good idea.

Assuming I get my car back I'll probably make tracks up to CG quite early in an attempt to organise some parking so I'll probably avoid any en-route meets.

To be fair it appears to be the bush supplier that is causing the delay as the front anti roll bar bushes are incorrect. However I only ordered (and paid for) the front wishbone bushes and front anti roll bar bushes to be done. They forgot this and have done the rear bushes and rear anti roll bar bushes as well.
I have been advised that as this was down to them, the charge will be minimal but i'll see when I collect the car as to what their idea of minimal is !

I think the confusion came about as the MD of the company that make the KW3 was having the suspension and all the bushes replaced on his and thought mine was the same order.

For those who missed it, today's meeting at Center Gravity must rank amongst one of the most successful. No less that 32 964s on site as well as a couple of 993s, a Cayman S and a 997 GT3. Chris Franklin's enthusiasm and knowledge enthralled and entertained throughout the day as well as Jayne and her daughters keeping the assembled crew fed and watered.

Thanks to all who supported it - and there were many who travelled considerable distance to get there - and, especially to Chris Franklin for making it all possible.

Regards

Dave
