Can any of you folks with a fountain of 964 knowledge shed some light on Porsche option codes:
I've consulted the enthusiast's manual and either i'm not looking or interperating the info correctly or my car is the only one with these additional option codes [8|]
Option Codes 740, 10011 and SW.
Also what does the 03 in the transmission code G5003 stand for?
and 01 in the engine type code M6401

Paul,

I can help you on some of your questions.

The 01 in M64/01 means it's a normally aspirated (i.e. non-Turbo) engine designed for a manual gearbox. The M64/02 was for the Tiptronic cars from 1991 onwards. The M64/03 is for the RS and the M64/50 is the 3.6 Turbo. For reasons that are not at all obvious the 3.3 Turbo was M30/69..

The 03 in G5003 denotes that it's a RWD gearbox (not for Switzerland). There is a full list in Adrian's book on page 581.

I can't help you on those option codes. I've seen the 10011 before but Ihave no idea what it signifies. 740 doesn't seem to be recognised by anyone. The SW coiuld be a trim designator but I've never been able to find anywhere to decode the two letter codes.

Regards

Dave

Cheers Dave,
What threw me with the 03 in G5003 was the (not in Switzerland) bit, as the G5052 is a RWD manual (all), which i presumed means ROW and generally includes the UK. You are right, the SW is related to the interior option, my interior being midnight blue colour which would appear not to be listed either.

I'll check Ian's link to try and shed some more light. Cheers Ian

Great link that Ian, Cheers, although Charles' decoder didn't recognise SW, 740 and 10011 either. As he says in his text, if the decoder doesn't recognise it, he doesn't know it either. Still a great program though
