964 rear strut question

Guest

New member
I have some cargraphic spring/struts for my car, got them off ebay. I started to fit them today to find the rears won't fit. After much headscratching I found the 3 studs on the top of the strut that bolt through the body are slightly different location to the originals, does anyone know if these hole positions were changed by Porsche ? It looks like the front will fit fine.
any ideas ?
Thanks
Peter

Peter,

The 89-90 mounts are different to the mounts used on the 91 cars onwards. Many aftermarket shock manufacturers don't make the 89-90 mounts any more. There are some details on page 236 of Adrian's book.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

This is a picture of a post 91 rear strut installed, mine in fact, if yours protrudes less then Dave's answer is on the ball,

The problem is the 3 studs that bolt/hold the strut to the car are in a different position to the original strut, apart from that they look like they would fit, so do I make a new hole for the studs or just sit on the garage floor and cry ?
