OK,

1st to admit, never really had any time for 964's, had mega respect for heritage and all that, but
they never really did it for me.

Until......

Had a spin in Jeff hatherways RS minter last week, and have fallen for the whole rawness thing.

Makes my GT3 feel quiet and cosseting !!, had more poke than i expected too.

Did help that it was in impecable order, and i can see why they say the interiors were better quality than they
are now.

I have told him if he finds the car missing from the garage one morning, you know where to look !!!

Respect[:)]

Good to see you here, Glen. I can assure you there is no Lambo talk on this forum[:D]

Do you know if jeff's car is standard or is it producing a bit more power than standard. It seems harder to find a 964RS that hasn't been chipped and that is why many are so suprised at how much poke there is. if you are expecting 260 bhp, and its 300............... Having said that, the gearing and power band kelps as does the noise and overall sensation.

I know you do a few trackdays and if are ever at one that I am at, you should try one on thr track, its most natural environment.[:)]

I think Jeff's is pushing a little under 300, but can't remember what's been done.

Thanks for the offer, may have to take you up on that [;)]

Glenn for you are discovering the "LEICHTBAU" the true spirit of old Dr Porsche when at the turn of the century he invented the electric lightweight car, through to Guru of lightweight racers, Auto-Union, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen his ethos has always been that of driver involvement. His first cars were all true lightweight racers with the 550 Spyder his first RS in my book. A car took from the showroom and straight into competition with no or little modifications. Not since the 550 Spyder has Porsche given you a ready made competition car with no frills but plenty of spills and excitement. Time will prove me right I'm certain.

Having owned 15 911's I keep coming back and have stopped at the true soulchild of the old Dr Porsche....reliable, strong, involving, beautiful, competitive, uncomplicated.....the 911 came of age with the 964RS then had nowhere else to go you could not develop it any further without destroying it's soul. It looks like a 911 as his son Butzi designed, has all the qualities, build, ultra reliability but above all delivers the most rewarding involving driving experience known to man, you can spend 100,000k plus on so called supercars with every gizmo big turbos no finesse.......964RS from when you turn that ignition switch is an adventure, that first sound of the brake boost whir loud and compelling, the grind and rattle of the LSD, the bunp and thump of the Cup Car platform.........from the start it's telling you game on.....like riding a horse you have to control the beast or it will take over...addictive to the limit...you have been honest Glenn, wrong really to compare the modern cars the 964RS was the last (but modern platform) of the real drivers cars.........

Enjoyed your fabulous Manthey GT3 round the Ring last July truely awesome car and great driver you are Glenn...........
