Once the (front and rear) glass is out a few surface bubbles actually reveal much larger rotted sections that will need cutting out replacing - as in most cases. One of my rear inner wings turned out to be rotted in large areas requiring new fabricated infill panels. While the rear bumper and lights were off for spraying I found I needed new heat shields for them too all blah blah... You know where I'm going...
In the end the I think I must have spent @ £6k plus all replacement parts (new wing, bonnet, heatshields and all exterior rubber trim (old rubber back in is the worst thing to do imho)). Stunning look when finished with the guys (911/944/928 specialists) having done an amazing job drawing plenty of admiring comments.
The good thing is I was kind of prepared for the initial best guess costs ending up loads higher. And that's my advice really - maybe be prepared to end up paying double the estimate in your case - for just in case. Also, cutting corners now is the later nightmare and depression that will eat you!

100% for sure get OPC front/rear window seals and not anything else - otherwise it'll never fit perfectly as intended no matter what anyone says...

Saw it at RPM Technik next village along from me Colin. Went to take some pics of the 962 they had in the showroom, saw the 968S being used by staff and made an offer. Always wanted a CS, and with the rarer S I have the best of both worlds - a CS but with basic comfy cloth seats and a pair of cloth seats in the back too for the kids... Stuck on some other 964 Cup 2's I had (wider offset) and hey presto, 6 hours of track nonsense at Bedford Autodrome the other weekend!
You'll be able to stick a load of extra clobber in it for Le Mans and plenty of room for wine & beer on the way home too []

You're right Colin, but the drive down in the 911 kind of has it really. Although the 968 would be more fun on the roundabout outside the Beausajour campsite on Mad Friday!

About £2500 + vat if you can get it to KC in Witney in Oxfordshire, they are experienced Porsche, BMW & Land Rover repairers.
That was external only and no parts.

I'm surprised it's so 'cheap' to be honest. I would have thought you were doing well to get change out of £10K.
This doesn't include those extra bits (of corrosion and parts) that come up as you go along.
Budgeting for £8 - 10k. Anything less than that will go on the interior/radio etc. Not expecting it to be much less though []
No body panels required repalcing, small patch on one front wing, one rear wing and one inner wing,
Including heat shields and some bits of trim, fixings, etc, etc for glass out and stipped to metal, it was about £6k plus vat. (and that was with me stripping, door handles, cills, mirrors, seals, inner arch guards, grills, bumpers off, etc, etc and reassembling most of that also) took about 20 hours of taking apart as whole interior stripped, and i am still in process of building it back together estimate about 50 hours to put back together,
Costs build up with fasteners, seals, heat sheilds, all the bits that look ok until you start stripping it, Think circa about £5k was painter and about £1k at OPC for parts, which is still climbing as things like lights, indicators not longer look good enough against perfect paint,
Quality is concours.

This is the question I guess - how far do you want to go? Maybe replace anything removed that is tatty or cheap (e.g. fastenings and seals/rubbers for sure). I strongly believe that you arrive at an average price point where the work done is excellent and what you would want - you can detail all you like after that. After that it sort of becomes a bit marginal, personal preference and very subjective. I was quoted when looking around for the same work a price of £12k - £15k +VAT by a well known bodyshop in Reading. Clearly not interested in my business as no-one can convince me that twice the average price (across all other recommendations) means twice as good - utter rubbish. Made sense though when I saw in their workshop a new black Cayenne Turbo being resprayed pink for a footballer's wife (I was told). Just following the money...
