Looking for an original steering wheel for 964 RS lightweight i.e. black with correct RS horn-pad. I have a Sparco steering wheel now but looking to get back to original. Anyone have one for sale or know of a contact?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think all u need is the RS horn push, which fits a standard 964 four spoke wheel (used four spoke wheels pop up on ebay regularly for small money).

I think the RS wheel is a bit smaller than the std one that came in a 964.

I swapped mine for a 993RS wheel and still have the original one, but want to keep it for originality...

I just happen to have my RS steering wheel in my office at the moment.

The part number on the wheel is 944 347 084 09 (10VERL)
The part number on the horn pad is 944 347 859 03 / 944 347 859 05 (horn symbol)

I guess the wheel is the same as the 944.

But why would the RS horn-push have a 944 part number (I thought there never was a 944RS) - unless this is just yet another Porsche idiosyncrasy?

Strange. From Porsche PET:-
928 347 084 07 steering wheel Carrera RS
964 347 859 80 pad for horn Carrera RS

Pete

i paid 150 odd quid for a RS horn pad and 50 for a four spoke 928/944/964 wheel (they are identical to mt eye), mainly because i couldn't track down an original wheel whole. certainly prefer it to the 3 spoke sport effort that feels decidedly after market.

Maybe Des sold me a 944 after all, and got an elephant to 'rearrange' the body panels like on the Peugeot ad.

I have a 993rs wheel on my car and its an embarassment. (fitted by a previous owner)

Thanks for the Part number info, - I will get back to Original soon and it won't need 800 euro to achieve it.

Unless anyone is daft enough to want to swop, queue up here pls[:D][:D][:D]

Thanks all for great info.

Any chance of confirmed part numbers from a genuine wheel as I would to get them ordered?

George - out of interest - why is a 993 RS steering wheel an embarassment?

I have been informed that the splines on a 928 wheel are such that they will not fit a 964 column - is that correct?

Thanks! Managed to get a 944 347 084 09 (10VERL) wheel. Correct but by no means perfect and could really do with a re-trim. The RS horn push alone is £129 + VAT. On order. Need to quote 1AJ at the end of parts for black colour code.

Paul,
993 wheel is very "trinkety", It has the porsche badge in the middle, some false Allen Head screws which would make Ferry cry if he saw them, and it is just so contrived.

A 959 had the lozenge wheel as standard, as did a 944T and a 964rs, and loads of true porsches (excl the Flatnose 911 which I also like) but since then porsche pay more attention to the appearance of the wheel, than the feel that comes thru it.

The badge belongs on the bonnet, and all the tat on wheel centres, steering wheel centres, gear knobs, handbrake handles? sill kick plates, crested seats is tacky in my opinion.

sorry for the delay in reply, george

as i read this i thought theres a man after my own heart...none of that tat on my lovely car.

apart from the crest on the seats (std spec)......

and the small badge on the steering wheel centre....

and the wheel centres did have the crests (although silver not coloured)....

does this make me a chav...[]
