964 RS roadtests

I was reading a post on the 944 forum where someone was asking for original roadtests on the 944. Someone pointed them in the direction of a book "Porsche 944 Ultimate Portfolio" by Brooklands Books ISBN 1 85520 5602 which has reprints from magazines etc.

Looking on the web, there is a similar book for the 911 from 1990 to 1997 - same publisher, author is R Clarke and ISBN 1 85520 6765. Does anyone have this or know if it contains much on the RS? I am guessing that most of it will be 964 or 993 C2/4 based.

I remember that there was a post a while back on articles/books of interest and I have chased most of those down, still interested to find more if it is out there. May have to turn up at Mel's one of these days and prize some of his collection of material away from him.

Just spotted another book on the same web site (http://www.motorbooks.co.uk/showsect.asp?id=111)

Porsche 911 Carrera And RS Carrera (Unique Motor Books Road Test Collection) , Pitt C, 1 84155 5088. Any one seen this?

Thanks

Hi Yoda , the Brooklands book is a good one, just 2 articles about the RS plus one featuring the RS America and plus one featuring the 3.8 special RS. The 964RS article that makes buying the book worth it is by David Vivian driving at Zolder......but the rest of the book is interesting reading too.

If you PM me, I can mail you a test of the RS vs CS vs 968CS...Although I suspect my memory may be faulty - I might have sent you already

Hi Steve

I have that but thanks for the offer. Have you bought yourself an RS yet?

Regards

You got the original 964RS Autocar road test with all the figures in? That's the daddy in my estimation, even if they do slag off the car overall for being too hard. Nonces. I have it in my collection. Paid 30 quid for a bunch of mags just to get it [:D]

See John Miles www.porsche964.co.uk site for the Excellence article comparing Euro RS's, Cup Cars and RS America.

I have been looking for the Autocar test on the RS and haven't been able to find it anywhere. Have you by any chance scanned it (says he on bended knee)

For goodness sake Simon, stop grovelling!! Anyone who chases Badgers in an RS isn't worth it -trust me!!

Or are you proposing? ;)

Get back in your sett, merkin man!

Simon, unfortunately it is not scanned in but I could attempt to do so at the weekend (problem is the files will be large to be readable as I haven't got the hang of pdfs). Or I will photocopy the pages or something. Maybe just be easier to photocopy.

No - still happily with CS.

I have every confidence that the RS is more competent car from almost any technical perspective (except weight perhaps) but the RS I went to look was very raw, and it reminded me that to jump on the RS bandwagon requires more persuasive female strategies than my software version permitted.

On the drive away from seeing the car, I was "re-programmed" not to like them...[8|].

Appearently, I never wanted one in the first place [&:]

Mel - the only Excellence reviews I could see were the two on the Carrera 4? Where is the Euro RS vs Cup Car vs US RS article?

Dom - put me down for a copy if you would be so kind, don't think I have seen that.

B*gger, sorry Feroz, I of course meant the May '93 Panorama magazine of the PCA, article by Bob Gagnon 'Lightweight Carrera Confusion', comparing Carrera RS, Carrera Cup USA and RS America.

I'm sure that's on John's site too.

Thanks Mel, found it. Interesting read.

Shirish - Hello there, hope you are well. How is the CS going? Would love to see the articles, perhaps I can pop downstairs or you can mail them to me at JPM. Lets catch up!!

Regards

Hi Shirish, yes that is the article. Obviously you city boys are more techno literate than me to have it scanned in [:D] Maybe Feroz and Simon can pester you for them. ATB Dom

Hi Shirish

Good to see you on here ! Glad you still like the CS - if you recall, I met you & your brother @ the TIPEC show last June - Walton Hall. (we parked reasonably close).

I'm coming into the city for one of those infamous Beer and Curry nights soon..perhaps we can hook up ?

Rgds

Hi Shirish

Just sent you a mail but I think it may not have gone through. If you get the mail, would be great if you could send through the articles. See you soon - come to the Ace cafe at the end of the month.

Regards

Hi. Sad as I am, this is a complete list of articles on the 964 RS that I could find in the UK press. I have copies of all now, makes for interesting reading. If anyone knows of any others, please let me know. Will get 911 & Porsche World next month to add to the collection.

Thanks
