tim.

George is good and know's all about Porsches but he is not cheap. If you take your car along I would advise that you agree a cost first ..as he always finds some thing wrong and this is an added cost you did not budget for .I have used him for many years and that is his only fault as he is very thorough in what he does .

Motortune at Shotts is first class, the man you want is Peter.

George Morrison, Rutherglen.

Go there if you like dealing with a con man.

Motortune Shotts is the place to go.

Slim

That is a bit off a sweeping statement about Geo Morrison's I would not class him as a conman ..He does unearth some fault's when your car is in .and the price always differs ,that is as he is a bit thorough..I know you do not like him as you have had a bad experiance..but I do not thing a conman is justified. If you feel this strong go and talk to the man and get your dilfferances sorted out .

I have no intention of getting anything sorted out, would rather eat a pill of broken glass than that. Yes i have had a bad experience and it more than qualifies me to have the opinion i do.

Having owned over 20 cars over the passed 16 years of car ownership and used many many establishments for repair and maintenance i feel i have seen enough to qualify it.

Simply answering the question of who/where is a good garage and where to avoid.

I have no need to go into why, as quite frankly I would rather forget and move on.

Thank you.

This is not the first time you've put your mouth into first gear only to find clutch slip, I recall you talking a very good game concerning your cars ability around K'Hill only to never see it do anything.
To use the phrase con man on a forum is a little beligerant and to then find you unwilling to back this up with facts,-- well what's the score.
A lot of members have used George and continue to do so, he does not pretend to be cheap, but owning a 15yr+ old Porsche is bound to bring up the inevitable bad news with maintenance. God knows both Scott and I have had to bite the finacial bullet a few times.
Why don't you share with us your side of what was an unsatisfactory transaction rather than hide behind a mini slander and clam up.

Tim
In reply to your original plea, sorry to sound unsympathetic but did you not know that 964s are very expensive to service and maintain?
With Porsche Post, 911World and GT Purely Porsche mags available did you not do your homework and check out the likely costs of running a 964?
This is the very reason 3.2 owners did not jump up to 964 ownership and many held on to aquire 993s. This is common knowledge and you cannot escape the fact that the 964 is labour intensive and the bills are proportional.
I don't think you wiil get your car serviced and maintained properly cheaply, but you can ( and this may not be common knowledge) negotiate a reduced labour rate from your OPC on an older car IF you ask for it.
Sorry if this sounds a bit brutal but 964s are pretty pricey to look after properly compared to a 3.2 or a 993[:(]

yes i did know that but i prefer the shape of the 964 compared to 3.2. I did neogatiate with the opc for a better rate but even so it still cost near on 1000 pounds for the service and there was nothing they could find wrong. I have looked at the costs from jz machtech where my cars previous owner had it serviced and they were alot cheaper. I wanted to know if there is anyone in glasgow with the same or close to the same facilitys to service my car correctly without costing as much as the opc.

I've heard good things about 9M in Warrington and some folks from this region take their cars to Colin Belton and Co. Perhaps it is something you should consider if you don't mind
travelling several hours (return trip).

What was done was as follows

Supply touch up pen
Supply new key
Carry out 24000 service
587.50 service cost
95.98 oil
6.00 brake fluid
sevice kit 86.67
service cost total inc vat 911.97 for service plus key etc total bill near 1000 pounds

and thats it (nothing else at all) nothing wrong with car

This is why i want to find someone else!!! It was alot of money for not that much work. JZ machtech are near half this cost at 581.62 inc vat

Tim

OPCs are always going to be more expensive than specialists, how do the labour rates for the job you had done and JZ compare.

Just had my 993 serviced by Peter at Motortune. The car feels fabulous and the service was top notch. Will definitely go back there again.

Very witty there lolss, no really you should be on the stage.

Nothing wrong with my cars ability, maybe mine but that's a different matter eh.

I couldn't care less who you use to service/maintain your car, your car your money your choice. But when someone asks where to take there car, I will give them the benefit of the experience I have had.

You do the same if you want a balanced point of view. That's why forums are useful.

If it bothers you that much try not to read the posts.

Have a nice day.
