Hi All, i am new to this forum but i am hoping that i can draw on your collective subject matter expertise. I am currently building a 911 powered VW Splitscreen bus. I want to go whole hog and have purchased a full 964 running gear set up. From other forums i am aware that some people race the 964 box with the PDAS disabled. Does anyone have experience with this as i do not really want the PDAS capability????? Thanks in advance John

Unfortunately I unable to shed any light on your question John. However, I thought I would reply just to say your project sounds very interesting/exciting. For some reason over the past 12 months or so I've quite fancied the idea of purchasing a split screen camper, not sure why this has come about, may be it'll never happen. Just thought I would share that thought.

Anyway how far along are you with your project? any pics to post up?

Hi, well my engine is an early 1966 2.0L engine number 900943.

As the bus is a 1966 i liked the harmony of the project. Thats where the harmony stops as far as component parts go. The rear suspension is from a 996, the trans is a G64 and the front is 964. How it all fits together is anyones guess. All of the pictures are here

Why disable the PDAS -it's not that intrusive?

Hi Melv, the only reason is the cost of the component parts and sourcing them. I have considered having an all or nothing set up using the PDAS actuators linked to a electric hyd source with a switch in the cab but for what i will use the bus for i am not sure i am not sure i would ever really benifit from transposing the full system into the van.

Aha -brill!!

I assumed you'd got the 964 bits and were cutting the system out and not building it up!! Makes sense now! Best of luck!![:)]

Hi I have a porsche engine mounting crossmember for a VW bus and some other parts used for the conversion if you are interested. Berny.

Hi Berny, thanks for the interest, do you have distributor/ditsy cap/ht leads? Thankfully have cross member.

John

Hi John sorry I only have conversion flywheel and other parts used to fit the Porsche engine into a VW bus, the engine was removed and refitted in a Porsche! Berny.
