Andres, The problem with the ignition switch is quite common and the solution is to fit a new switch. It doesn't need the key to be changed, just the electrical switch at the back of the key barrel. I'm not sure how any metal from the starter would get to the gearbox. The automatic transmission fluid in the Tiptronic gearbox only requires 3 litres for a fluid change although 9 litres for a dry fill. Hope that helps. Regards Dave

Y live in guayaquil ecuador south america .and have a 1992 964 65000 km cabrio tiptronic turbo look, is dificult to have good service we have one recently open official service that only cost one arm and one leg to just look at the car and one other service . the advice y need is about the ignition key ,was turning on but didnt complet turn on different things like radio or lights you have to move it a litle backwards to make all work , y send it to a repair shop and it worked fine for 3 or 4 times and then the starter didnt turn, in the shop they tell me that is not only a problem with the starter than they need to change the oil in the triptronic that is like 10 quarts of very expensive oil , that has somehow been afected with litle bits of metal from the starter, can it be true or they are trying to rip me off? y have a litle bit of mechanical knowledge but these is out of my league
