964RS Independent Specialist Servicing

I need to get the RS serviced before Le Mans next month. I'd like to use a respected independent company to keep the stamped history at a high standard.

I live in Gloucestershire but am willing to travel within reason. Can anyone recommend a company within Gloucestershire / Oxfordshire / M4 corridor?

At the moment I'm thinking about Autofarm as it's closest to me.
Any other recommendations from your experience?

As an aside, valve clearances have to be set with the engine cold. I used to take my SC to my local guy the night before the service. How would a specialist deal with setting valve clearances on a hot engine - is it simply a matter of doing them last when the engine has cooled?

I had my car serviced by Autofarm and was very happy until I had it serviced by GT-1. The difference was night and day. In addition, they found things that hadn't been done that probably should have been. I wouldn't say that Autofarm did a bad job, just that GT-1 did a better one!

As for the issue of getting the engine cold, a service cannot really be done in a day. I think book time is either 10 or 12 hours. Every service I have had has been spread over either 2 or even 3 days.

And GT-One are a five min. walk from Chertsey mainline station.

Talk to Craig or Peter on 01932 569911/944 and mention my name, or Simon's, or Des's, or Matt's, or.......etc., etc.

Thanks for the info guys. Des had the car serviced at GT1 so perhaps I ought to keep the stamps in the book consistent.

I'll get in touch with them.

One of the real benefits of using the same people is that they reallyu get to know the car well. For instance, I had a couple of little "irregularities" which were being monitored. They weren't getting any worse, from one year to the next and therefore weren't worth dealing with. However, somebody who didn't know the car might have recommended doing extras!
