God, this forum is dead! Are we all over on Rennlist? Anyway...

There should be a few of us turning up at Cornbury House (the PCGB clubhouse) open day on Sunday. Me, Anthony and Tim, and my mate Phil, that's 4. Any more?

See you there GaryW. Cheers.

Like you guys I go on the model forum (ie. for me 964) but surely this site is more specific for turbo unique issues....

No disrespect intended :) but this particular thread was looking for 965'ers (yeh, I know 964 turbos).

Latest update, there are now 5 of us!!

Any more?

Hi Tim,
I was counting on you.
Another 3.3 from West London has contacted me, so that's 5 now! Photo opportunity :)
We'll aim to arrive around 11.

I'm planning to come in mine (3.6) too [:)], should be there before 11. Anyone know what the weather forecast is [8|]?

Ensure the images are decent quality ( 5 meg or more ), send them to me with a bit of copy ( or just captions ), and we'll get them included in Porsche Post!
Have fun

John,

Glenn,

Don't worry - it's not you!! There never really was a 965 - it was a number used for a car which never made the light of day. It's just that many of the parts (P/N 965.xxx.xxx.xx) are used on the 964 Turbo II and Turbo 3.6 and they seem to be generically called "965s". It's a very handy way to identify the Turbo varieties of the 964 without resorting to the long winded forms.

Hope that sorts it out.

Regards

Dave

But i thought the 3.6 964 turbo was called a turbo II ???

And the 3.3 964 Turbo called just, well, 964 Turbo ????

Oh gawd[8|]

Glenn,

There are many, many 3.3 Turbo 964s which are advertised as Turbo II but I don't think it was ever used officially. The original 964 Turbo (in 1991) was called exactly that. The Turbo S came a little later, the Turbo 2S was a US special, the Turbo 3.6 in 1993 and a very rare Turbo 3.6S. Just to confuse, the 993 Turbo introduced 4WD and was referred to as the Turbo 4!!!

I bet that confuses it even more now!!!

Regards

Dong! Sorry, Computamedic, that's not the half of it. If you get an OPC to quiz the factory Master Enquiry Computor, the " 993 turbo 4" will be referred to as Model 993771 911 Carrera Turbo!
Hee hee, great fun, isn't it.

I call mine a 965, Turbo 2, 964 turbo, 3.3 turbo or plain old 911 turbo...
or just turbo for short!
...or indeed a 911....

Mark you forgot 964 C2 Turbo. So that's

911 Turbo
911 Turbo II
964 Turbo
964 C2 Turbo
965
..plus you can add 3.3 or 3.6 to each, depending on your engine size. I wonder if we hold the record for number of names for our cars?

Back on topic re. Sunday - my camera is only 3 megapixels as well, so I can't help either but it would be good to get some pictures in PP. Anyone else?

Cheers,

Tim.

Gone are the days when you could say, ive got a PORSCHE turbo.
The layman thinks its a chelsea tractor.[&o]
