968 alarm upgrade - means what?

Hi there to all - my first post as a prospective 968 owner

I'm trying to arrange insurance for my new 968cab, to be picked up next weekend. I'm currently with Nowell & Richards for my 944 insurance. The info on the car security is that it has a porsche standard factory fit immobiliser and a "porsche system 1 alarm upgrade". I have the reference codes for these two options as follows:
immobiliser 999.999.795.00
alarm 999.999.720.02

My insurer doesnt know what the "system 1 alarm upgrade" means and is baffled by the option codes. They want to know if it corresponds to a thatcham or other classification. My local OPC said that they thought that the system 1 upgrade corresponds to Thatcham Category 2 but werent 100% sure

I dont know the difference between thatcham 1 or 2 and am increasingly baffled!. what should I tell the insurer?

Hi Tim,

Welcome! There's a list on Thatcham's website - if you can make sense of it [8|]

thanks Jim
youre right is very..er...comprehensive in detail!
My brain is in shut-down trying to make sense of all the numbers. I think I may just give it all to the insurers and let them sort it out.
cheers

just as a follow up, I contacted Thatcham's helpline (found via their website) and they were brilliant. they contacted porsche, got all the parts codes, confirmed the system as thatcham 1 and gave me the relevant codes for the insurers. great service

Always nice to hear that someone somewhere still gives good service these days[;)]
