968 Club and new to 968 ownership

Dear all,

Just to say I am recently a proud owner of a 968 for the first time. A midnight blue sport in remarkably decent condition. The last owner had it since 1999 and I think it's rare in that it has FPSH.

2 things, I would like some advice about a couple of things / trim / interior etc and was wondering if there is a guru / garage that specialises in 968s? If so, can someone please let me know.

The other is that I have been trying to register / get hold of someone to access the porsche968.co.uk club and forums to no avail... I have registered and paid the £3 or so (I think), but nothing. Most frustrating as I am guessing it is the best source get this information. I have also emailed the administrator email address and have received no response. If anyone has any ideas why, I'd much appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

968uk is nothing to do with the Porsche Club, it's an independantly-owned forum. Most of the 968 owners are also registered here, so ask away! [:)]

You could also contact the Porsche Club 968 representative, 968@porscheclubgb.com

Hi Jeff. Welcome to 968 ownership. Where are you located? Might be helpful for you to put this into your avatar.

I am sure Stuart who administers porsche968couk will shortly get in touch with you. He also visits the 968 forum on PCGB too.

jeff, I've PM'd Stu via the 968uk forum, I'm sure he'll be in touch shortly - and you're correct, it's a superb source of knowledge for 968 owners.

I'm trying to remember the name of the indie near Gatwick - the owner, Ken Napier, bought my 968 tip coupe from me 2 1/2 years ago - found them, http://www.nineexcellence.com/contact/index.html. Don't know anyone nearer to Midhurst I'm afraid.

Southbound trimmers are located in Stockbridge, about 40 mins from you, and they are the gurus for Porsche trim. They have a website www.southboundtrimmers.com where you can download a pdf file with prices etc.

I live in Chichester (but spend most of my time away) and I store my car at Addspeed in Horsham. They have probably pulled every single part off my 968 at some time, including doing the cam shafts, rings and belts etc so know the 968 well. They have other 968 users who go there also. Ask for Keith (the owner) if you call 01403 255616

I used to take my 968 to Barry Hart at Hartech as I consider him perhaps the most knowledgeable indie when it comes to 968's. It was mildly inconvenient, as I'm in Fife in Scotland and he's in Bolton in Lancashire [] but it was worth it. [:D]

The two key things to check are the cam chain/camshaft sprocket for wear and the front brake calipers for bi-metallic corrosion. Get those sorted properly and the rest is pretty straightforward.

Just noticed how much they also look like the 959, not suprised the Porsche know nowts think I am minted hahaahha ,
