Has any one see this car on e-bay.Very cheep, but it is cat c and the back end seems to be sitting far to high.have a look and see what you think. http://www.buchananmotors.com/galleries/968cs/

There was a whole thread about this car on the 968 forum a couple of months back. No MOT, no tax, incomplete V5, some corrosion, concerns over the seats (? replacements), sitting too high, Cat C.... Genuinely, there were a number of concerns raised. I think the price was initially £9995 around ? last summer - maybe earlier. Last I checked, bidding had reached £4k on eBay a couple of days ago.

Sitting way too high with positive camber on the backend, whats with the mish mash of clocks, and the parcel shelf is not present, seats look correct but i suspect re-tailored covers............tread very carefully !

Reading the ad is enough to make you avoid it. They admit to buying the car, advertising it then finding out it was a Cat C in 1998? That was a big claim for a 1994 car, it was only 4 years old at the time. [8|]

Pity you didn't come and see mine this evening, you'd have had something to compare this one with. See you next Friday! If this one is the real thing it seems to have been messed around with. I'd be very wary. I thought at first from the pics that it was someone's take on a CS but the VIN would be a good start point to prove/disprove. The CS badge on the rear panel doesn't prove anything, you can buy them at the OPC. Not to mention the decals which may be seen on many non-CS's! (Is that a bit like being in a tribute band? [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] Just wait for the explosion - I'm off!)

Seats don't look right to me and, as Frenchy says, no parcel shelf, which is why the cargo net hook has been taken down to the seat belt mounting, putting for too much stretch in the shock cord, when it should go onto the bracket on the shelf. As for the clocks............

I notice the harnesses are attached at the rear to the seat belt mounting. There was a long thread about this on the 968uk site a while back and the consensus seemed to be IIRC that they must go onto a bar, making a recommended angle to the horizontal, or the loading in a crash goes into the shell of the seat, which isn't designed to take it. Or something to that effect, would an engineer please take over!

Might be better to forget this car and stick to the 944 you're doing such an amazing job on?

Rgds, Richard

wild horses couldn't drag me away from the motor trade.. no way in hell i would ever work for someone else again.

paul- can you not use the skills you have learned and go it alone? im in the motor trade but 100% self employed and self sufficient. i operate my own website www.buchananmotors.com, i buy from main agents (bmw, audi, porsche, mercedes dealers), i source cars online and at trade auctions. i only deal in prestige and performance marques.. my business is 100% online and i work from home.. i do all my own buying, advertising, selling, handling calls and dealing with punters- the lot, im a one man band.... and any money i make is all mine (aside the vat and tax man ofcourse!)

surely, coming from within the trade, you have a good head start.. afterall alot of the job is "who you know"..

i left full time employ 6 years ago.. i'll never look back. my time is 100% my own.. i make the rules. self empoyed is a great lifestyle if you have the commitment.

infact, i dont actually feel as if i work.. when i did have a job, most of my days of were spent dabbling with buying and selling cars anyway.. now, i have everyday off lol..

dont be fooled.. there is PLENTY money to made self empolyed in the motor trade if you know what your doing. i regularly make well over 4 figures profit on a single bonnet.. i sell 8-10 cars a month.

stick you what know mate.. you wont look back.

lol.. check this one..

3weeks ago i bought a 944turbo from ebay, in west sussex.. drove down to collect it.. paid 4650 for it.

brought it back up the road, cleaned it, did a bit of paintwork.. advertised it for 8999..

along comes a man with a 911 993 carrera and wants to part ex.. i gave him 4000 and the 944turbo..

now got a porshce 911 993 costing 13,000. (with around 4000 CLEAR profit at the 944turbo)..

advertises the 911 993 for 18,650..

..a guy comes on the phone with a honda S2000.. wants to chop against the 911 993.. i talk to the man.. he comes along and gives me 13,000 cash AND his car.. which is worth around 6000.

by the time ive sold the S2000 thats another 6000 clear profit..

and that is all generated just from 1 car, and 3 weeks.. 10,000 clear profit.

some months i can make twice that.

you just wont get that working for any man..

EDIT: im a tight git though.. for tax purposes, i only pay myself the very bare minimum to cover the household bills and mortgage.

make of it what you will.

Recently missed a 996 Carrera down the road from me, mine for just over 10k but only had 3 days to raise the cash, my car money is tied up in my other cars so i missed out, the guy traded it at the local VW dealers fo a new sirroco.
It was moved on in the trade for 10.5k, it has just turned up at a local independent trader at £13.995 and he has not done a thing with it..................i am doing something wrong !
Get up at 6.30 every morning and wasn't home until after 7 Mon Tue Wed.
Went to look at a 993 at Buchannan Motors, offered me only 6k for the Turbo, his car wanted some paint and 2 rear tyres @ 19k, considering he is earning 10k some months he still scrounged a ciggie from me !

Very interesting, thanks. I already had made my mind up about Buchanan Motors, as they are often discussed on PH and have something of a reputation, shall we say.

That which you posted has confirmed my thoughts. Thanks.

Oli.
