968 Cubbies - genuine rocking horse doo-doo

I was just speaking to Adrian at Exeter OPC. He has just got 4 968 cubbies with gauge hole just arrived. One is mine and I might not use it so it might be available and he says he thinks at least one other may not be spoken for. 01392 822841.

Fen how much do these retail for?

I should really fit one of these with a boost gauge to my car.

Cheers
Lee

I forgot to aks the price. John Sims might know as I think he got one recently. They're in the £20 range I think but if you miss one now you'll have 18 months to save up based on past experience.

Under the stereo the cubby in the 968 has a moulding at the right hand end to take a 52mm gauge (a clock in the case of the non-ClubSport 968 as they have outside temp on the digital display).

Yer 'tis

I feel I want one of these but I'm not sure why. My clock works fine and my S2 obviously doesn't need a boost gauge so what else could I put in it?

I could think of a few things you could put in it but they would be pretty useless.

So how do you get a round boost gauge to fit in a square hole without it looking like some sort of Heath Robinson affair?

I'm guessing there's some trimming involved - I didn't realise it was square until I opened it. Paul (Diver) and John have done it alread I think - possibly Rick too - maybe they can explain.

Yep it's square [8|] so you need to do a bit of whittling with a hobby knife.

Here's a pic of mine that I did two years ago when I got hold of the last one in the country before everyone started waiting [:D]

You can just see the bottom right edge of the square corner, but I'm happy with it

I found that a 52mm guage wouldn't really fit in the square recess nicely and had to remove a degree of the raised frame of the cubby. As I didn't think it looked like the gauge was meant to be there I fabricated a carbonfibre cover to make the job seem more integrated, and replaced the ash tray with a piece of carbonfibre to follow the theme through.

Going OT, but have you finally got your AFR gauge connected up now John?

I'm going to replace my front pipe later this year and get a bung welded into it first for an O2(or wideband) sensor

I have. Beaky is sporting Garreths old cross over pipe now. As a result, I have a spare cross over pipe sitting in my shed which could be made available to recieve bung ferrules.
