968 mirrors

Did a search but returned zero items. One of the mirrors had a stripped bolt holding it so was damaged to remove it for the re-spray. Before I go to the expense of buying a new one I thought I'd look into 968 mirrors.

How easy are they to fit (wiring the same/different etc), does anyone have a set they never fitted and if not where do you get them from/how much are they?

Regards,

Ben

Opinion in the past seems to have been it is form over function.
They look better than the flags but are harder to use - smaller area and rounder.
Personal choice I suppose.
There was a set on PH spares at around 180 unpainted so not cheap either

Funny you should ask that as I was researching the very same subject this morning.
Easy job, according to this article, but n.b. the wiring comments made at the end:

Good link thanks, and good call on the ph spares add. I'll ring and see if he'll be reasonable.

They're very easy to fit Ben, just make sure they come with 968 bases and not the 993/964 version. The electrics are not a straightforward plug connector but as the guide above shows it's not difficult to do. Genuine ones can still be bought from an OPC for several hundred quid and Clubautosport used to do a fibreglass copy without electrics for around £150 - looks just the same when painted [8D]

I also believe that the 968 mirrors are a little lighter than the Flag mirrors for weight freaks but I stand to be corrected.

Think I'm going to go standard. Anyone got a passenger side mirror base (or whole mirror if you don't want to split it but I only need the base) laying around in their garage?

Extremely annoyingly I actually have got one.. and in red to rub salt into the wound but all my worldly possessions are boxed up in storage as I'm currently lodging and without a house. So its impossible to get to! Rugger!

Possibly so but the flags do have the not inconsiderable advantage over the 968's of actually giving you a decent field of view as to whats behind you....
