968 rear window

Ebay is your friend here, there's quite often a complete hatch on there.

For example :

I'd also check PET/your local friendly OPC parts folk to see if any 944, 928, 924 glasses are identical

Or, if it's the rear 1/4 window you're after, there's a couple of listings on Ebay just now.

Also might be worth asking Autoglass, AA Windscreens and the like! You never know.

Another thought - some of the racing boys replace the rear glass with plexiglass - much lighter, so may have the old glass one gathering dust. Try Baz at Hartech!

I'm afraid that is why many 968's were written off in the past. Decent second hand ones sometime come up a breakers.

944 will fit but was told the spoiler won't go back on, also has a rear wiper!
I have found one at a Porsche breakers!
£300, worth checking, my insurance only covered £500 for glass!

Just go for a 944 hatch if you have all the parts for the 968 bridge spoiler?
The glass is the same. If the rear wiper is a different size hole, go for a matching wiper motor or delete it with a Promax kit. The bridge spoiler parts are silly money, so don't lose them....

The main issue with the hatches is that the frames are starting to come away from the glass with age. We're all going to have to deal with this at some point, so I guess you're saving the £5K if you buy used, but might need to have a cheap hatch from ebay refurbished?

We need some "how to" guides from people who've dealt with this. [:)]

The hardest part is getting the glass out of the frame without breaking it, guitar strings are your friend with this job.

then Dynitrol glass etch primer for the black surround and Dynitrol glass bond for prepping the frame, put the frame back on the car before assembly so you can get it all lined up before you bond it in

not a job I would want to do unless absolutely had to

well after a bit of fiddling and finding out allen head bolts don`t like to come out, my sport is back together ! got a rear hatch from 9apart, used to be porschapart at ramsbottom. £275 and the only one they had, 153,000 miles and counting.

don't chuck your old hatch, would be good for an attempted rebuild / re-fix of the glass, unless it shattered
