968CS tyres

[FONT=arial"]Hi,
Please can I have some advice re tyres for my 1994 968CS(left hand drive). I have had it for nearly a year but need to start thinking about possibly changing the tyres in time for the MOT in August. I won't be doing any track day racing so the tyres would only be for normal rd use. However, as I may take it abroad I would want decent tyres to take advantage of unrestricted parts of the German autobahn. Thanks for any help, Russ.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

The Goodyear GSD3,s used to be one of the best tyres to fit a 968, but as they are now being fazed out, the Falken FK452 is a great / replacement tyre.
Also the Falkens are about £120 ish per set cheaper..
Ive had both + currently use the Falken...
Very little to choose between, apart from the price.

Another vote for the Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3's, supply is still plentiful but the price doesn't compare favourably with Falken FK-452's.
These will be on my 968 when the current GSD3's wear out, lots of 968 owners can't be wrong surely . . ? [:D]

Incidently I've done two airfield trackdays, four proper tracks (Bedford GT and 'Combe) and circa 9000 road miles on the GSD3's and they're still going strong!
It's a pity the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric's aren't available in 255-40-17.

Goodyears GSD3's again but Toyo T1r's are very very good and not as expsensive as the Goodyears. I know Dave likes the Falcons so between the three choices of tyre you won't go far wrong.

I had Toyos on mine and although they didnt last as long as others the wet and dry grip was excellent and they are cheaper.

Another vote for the Goodyear Eagles.

I've done 5 trackdays this year and they are still going strong, still got another couple of tracks days at least.

MPCs or SO2s depending on usage. Both work well. I use the former in the dry/track and the later on the road/wet.

Michelin pilot sport 2`s, mines a daily driver so they wear extremely well and the wet/dry grip is excellent. They are expensive, but the front tyres have lasted 40k miles, the rears just over half that and I don`t hang about.
