981 3.4S checking oil level but continually showing "no inform./oil level available now"

When I checked the oil level on my 981 3.4S, it showed 'minimum', so I added a litre, and ran the engine up to temperature, switched it off, waited a minute, and tried to check it again! All I have showing in the display is "no inform./oil level available now", and no matter what I do, trying checking it cold, going for a run, switching off the engine for a minute and trying it again, it still gives the same message!! Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how did you sort it out??? Thank you in anticipation!

Sorry, not got an answer but interested in any replies as I got the same message when I checked mine from cold. Not tried it after a run yet.

After opening the boot, you have to get oil up to temp and drive for about 30 mins or so for it to read. It's the opening of the boot which resets the time.

........ I have used it once or twice since, but each run has been slightly less than thirty minutes, and the boot hasn't been opened since I topped up the oil! Is it imperative that it is driven for 30 minutes or more?? Thanks for you advice so far. Howard

Yes , it needs a fair run, as the oil temp has to get up to about 100C or so.
once it's reset, until you open the boot, it will show the level regardless of the operating temp, but if you open the boot, start again.

Excellent, I'll try that! I think the oil temperature has reached 90c, and no more, so I will go for a decent run, at high speed, and try it then! I'll let you know if it solves my problem, and thanks again!! Howard

Hi and thank you for the advice which proved conclusive!! I took my car for a run last night and managed to get the oil temperature up to 103degC, and then went through the sequence, which then gave me the level reading!! It is obvious now, that the main criteria is getting the oil temp to 100degC or more, which the handbook does not mention!! So, the advise is much appreciated!
