981 Boxster valuation - whats your experience been?

Hi all.

I’ve had my 2013 981 Boxster (2.7) for almost 2 years to the day. It was bought from an OPC and is quite highly spec’d (Too many options to
mention but the essentials - PDK, Sports Chrono, Carrera S wheels and so on).

Now then, year one the var was valued for insurance purposes for the price we paid the OPC.
Year two, we took advantage of the free valuation provided by the club and it
lost only a few £K - which I was extreemly happy with.
Year three, again we have just had it valued by the club and they have valued it at slightly above the original OPC price.

Has anyone else found this on the 981? I watched a valuation/buyers guide online a few months back and they actually recommended the early 981‘s as the smart buy.

I‘m guessing that these have been helped by the 718?

Anyway, would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

No! In short
i bought mine 2 yrs ago from OPC 981S sep 2013 with megaspec list £72k
i paid £39950
just sold it for £32k to an Indy who shifted it quickly for £35k
so not a bad loss over two years but it certainly didn’t appreciate;-)
to hope for any increase in a mass produced car is sadly wishful thinking
on the other hand it does look like 718 are falling quicker
cheers
Dylan

I forgot to mention of course that whilst our cars are not as mileage sensitive as fezzas,it’s not unimportant
i took mine from 28k miles to 46k with some wonderful European trips
if yours has done much less miles then it will doubtless have a positive impact
to be honest if I had put on only 4kmiles a year I doubt I’d have sold it

Thanks Dylan,
The car does about 5k a year (We have a few cars).

I’m not fussed whether it appreciates/depreciates or whatever I just thought it was interesting.

Bear in mind the valuation will be based on the retail price, so the price you would get will be a few £k less, so it's quite likely you have lost some money - as most cars do, but you have bought wisely as they are slow to depreciate so cheap motoring in a great car - happy days!
