981 deliveries delayed

Promised an April build, I called my OPC yesterday to enquire why I had not yet been asked to confirm my 981 specification. After consultation with Porsche GB it appears that there have been 'production delays'. What they might be was not revealed, although the UK launch postponement to 5th May signalled the problem. However, I was given a scheduled build completion date of 21st May for delivery in the first week of June, apparently the first 981 2.7 to be supplied by this OPC.

So if you have a 981 on order then you should prepare to wait a little longer.

So what are they going to display at the launch evenings-my invite is for the 20th April?

Apparently Porsche GB has a small fleet of demo cars, frequently in unusual colours, that tour the OPCs for the launch parties. Each OPC is also given a single car to keep for display.

I have been invited to Silverstone for a 981 driving experience next Tuesday. I assume that they will have a few too!

The dealers knew of these delays late Feb. found this out when ordering my 981

Dear all

As many of you are already aware, we have unfortunately seen a significant
shift in the production phasing of Boxster and Boxster S.

In the latest quota confirmation that was received from the factory last
week, the volume of production in April and May has been reduced
significantly and moved back into later months in the year. The most
severely affected model is Boxster, Boxster S has not been so badly
affected. The volume for the whole year has not been reduced, however the
phasing has been moved back into later months.

Due to the late notification of these changes, we appreciate that the
production shift has had an impact on customer ordered vehicles, for which
we apologise. We acknowledge that for some Centres, the impacts have been
significant.

In order to provide you with as clear a picture as possible on how
allocation will be fed back to you to replace the April and May losses, we
will be releasing Boxster allocations for June onwards within the next
week.

As a result of the delay in full production, the on-sale date for the new
Boxster (Type 981) has been moved to 05 May.  This change does not affect
the planned dates for Centre preview events which will run between 17 and
27 April.

Please can you ensure this information is passed on to all relevant staff
within your Centre.

Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.

Good photos at Silverstone - looks fantastic - had invite but too far north to come for the day!

Also waiting to hear when delivery will be - was April build - maybe deposits funding euro to bail Spain
