981 Faults

Hi all,
Having taken delivery of my just out the wrapper 2.7 981 at the weekend I can only say I am as happy as a pig in s**t
However I have a few faults.
1st was less than an hour from the OPC.
A warning came on the dash "Check rear Indicator" upon doing so I became evident that indeed the right rear Indicator was not working.
Turns out a new rear Cluster is required. it will be replaced this Wednesday.
One of those things.
However the next problem although minor shows a QA issue both factory and OPC side!
The rear number plate should have two LED illuminators. I say "should have" as mine has only one and an empty hole. Not a case of fell out just never there! Still minor and an easy fix.
Next issue is worth fellow owners checking if you have have PCM?

When I have my time set to am/pm mode all is correct on main cluster display and on main PCM display however if I go into Car the trip data shows the correct hour and minutes but as am when it is pm. Even after a reset to show current.
If I change to 24hr mode all is ok so I guess it's just a software glitch
I also have the Sports Chrono pack as well so not sure if that's part of it
Also in the same screen the compass is 180 degrees out showing a South heading when should be North.
I'm sure my OPC will be able to fix them all when it's in.
Although small niggles I am still over the moon with the car.
If you are thinking about going for one. Just do it [8D]

my 981S had an unacceptably large gap between the off side front bumper and wing

and it had "Boxster S" door sill guards on passenger side, and "Boxster" on driver's side.

both fixed, and car has been fine since.

That's really disappointing on a £50k car James - you'd expect a more thorough PDI from your PC.

Let's hope that a drop in build-quality isn't symptomatic of having moved all production back to Stuttgart from Valmet in Finland, who had an excellent reputation for building Boxsters and Caymans. Incidentally, I recall reading an item on a US forum where a (Stuttgart-built) Cayman R was handed over to the new owner with the trim around the rear window missing.

Enjoy the new purchase.

Jeff

Has that happened yet? If so, presumably the VIN won't have an S for the build location.

Would be good to know where whinbush's was built...."S" in posn 11 of the VIN, or something else (O?).

Thanks, so presumably a Stuttgart car. Will be interesting to see how quickly anything emerges from Osnabruck with right-hand drive.
