981 Sat Nav - Orientation

I have the sat nav on the 981.

The way the car arrow is orientated is quite annoying. while normally the arrow is pointing up and I can easily see whether I turn left or right, sometimes when I do a turn, the arrow on the screen changes direction so it's a little tricky, if I'm glancing quickly, to see where to turn.

Is there a way to have it so the map adjusts around the arrow, i.e. the arrow is always pointing up? This makes things considerably easier.

I've played a little with the settings but struggling...

Thanks

Hi

I am not sure this will help as I have the PCM 3 from the 987 but with mine to get the orienation North you just touch the aroow on the screen and so I can toggle between North or as you travel mode. Sometimes I have noticed this is better done when the car is stationary. Might be worth a try, certainly makes the changes on mine.

Hope it works

Yes - you can definitely do it.

Choose "options" and you can get into the map menu. It's one of the boxes to tick from the list. I managed to do this recently on the Club's loaned 991 as Peter Bull prefers it the other way round and had set it accordingly. It can't be too hard to find as I managed it without resorting to the manual!

Thanks.

Below is a screenshot from the third page of "Map view" / "SET MAP" / "Options" in the Maps menu.

The only options I can think are relevant are "North arrow" and "North orientation" (other options in "Map view" are Junction zoom, Bird's eye view, 3D terrain model, 3D buildings, 3D POIs, Satellite image, Speed limit, Show traffic, Guidance and Footer (station/track).

I have tried toggling both "North arrow" and "North orientation" without success.

Ah...now I figured out what was causing the issue. Yes, North orientation needs to be unselected.
I noticed the problem I had only occurred when there was a turn on the navigation (and a little red point on the map designating that turn). At the turn, the car arrow would move round the map, rather than the car arrow staying in the same position and the map moving round the arrow (which is what I wanted).
By unselecting "Junction Zoom" fixed this.

Although the arrow moving round the map still happens on the dashboard display - not sure how to fix this, but happy that the main PCM unit at least has the arrow always pointing up wherever the navigation is saying i need to turn!
