981 serpentine drive belt change

My major service is due soon and my local indy charges £100 for spark plugs and £60 for drive belt changes on top of the service cost.
I have new plugs to put in that I had from my 987 (Bosch FGR5NQE04)
But I wondered if anyone can confirm the belt part number.

From my Porsche electronic parts manual the belt part number is 9A1 102 218 00 which seems to cross relate to 6PK1768.
Just wondered if anyone could confirm this.

I intend to change the plugs and belt myself.
I did the belt on my 987 and although the 981 seems a little more fiddly because of the engine mount bolt which needs removal its still do-able.
Plugs were last done 4 years ago by the Porsche dealer that sold me the car so intend to do them as well.

(The belt change is noted as part of the six year service only)

I have the belt from my previous, 2013 981 Cayman S PDK six year service last November, the part number on the belt itself is the same as you quote. The belt is visually in excellent condition, mileage was ~ 28,000

The number on the replacement belt `carton` is 0PB 903 137 A

Thanks Andrew, that's interesting.

My 981 is a 2012 so have just checked my service from 2 years ago at 6 years old but the belt wasn't changed.

And I doubt it was done by the Porsche dealer just before I bought the car 4 years ago when it was 4 years old.

Design 911 want £48 + vat for a "genuine" Porsche belt or £19 + vat for an equivalent Gates belt PLUS £6 delivery.

Whereas I can get a Gates belt for less than £15 from the internet.

My 981 has only just passed 28,000.

Have you checked belt price with your OPC, whilst you get 10% club discount it`ll still be close to that 911 price

Did an OPC do the six year service ?

Yes, an east midlands OPC did the last major service 4 years ago, I won't mention who exactly.

It was done just prior to the last owner buying the car who then only kept it for three months before the OPC took it back.

Very very long story which was well documented on here when I bought the car.

The term "genuine" Porsche always amuses me as I bought a V-belt for my last 987 and it was Contitech which is what I understand Porsche use.

I have ordered a Gates one off the web, a very well known & respected make.

But after all, its a v-belt not the timing belt.

If it was a timing belt I would then go for OE make.

I searched EuroCarParts for a 981 v-belt and nowt came up.

Actually, I might contact my local Porsche Centre tomorrow and get a price form them out of curiosity.
