I think they must only be for small people...

Looks like the tent could be electric. They will definitely work a way to keep the look. Will have to reserve judgement for real life to see if the base of the car works with the top half.

Apparently caught on camera in S.A.

Hi there, these pics were taken in Cape Town, South Africa! Table Mountain in the background and about 15 min drive from where I stay. This has given me a slight distraction from my GT4 dilemma It does look like two tops...I really never thought they would bring back the same looking Spyder roof....but this time it looks like it's going to be a fully electric mechanism. Interesting times ahead.

I have seen another spy shot taken in Europe of a dark blue car with same roof arrangement, cannot remember where it was now but looked same.
So is this the 'new' Spyder at last and when do we get more info.

Don't see how a roof like that can be electric !!!!!!!!
Does the rear deck lid look like it's 2 pieces allowing for my idea of an unlined lightweight folding soft top[8D]

My guess is this:

The "flying buttress roof" is a camouflage cover for the real roof mechanism below. The bootlid is one whole piece (a 2 piece cover as suggested by Daro doesn't give any obvious access to the rear storage boot). This whole bootlid raises on a cantilever hinge manually, to allow manual folding of a simpler single skin roof of similar profile to the standard car.

This is all conjecture, but if nearly correct, then I claim my free 981 Spyder now!

It's not the physical effort needed it's remembering the step by step procedure [:D] Easier to just leave it off [;)]

Notice that 981 above is using the standard glass and not the sloping sleeker look of the 987
