Hi All,
I joined the Club over the summer even though I don’t own a Porsche, YET and after much searching and deliberating I think I have found ”the one”. Going to view a 2012 981 Boxster with about 59k miles and was hoping for some advice on what to look out for. Thanking you in advance!

If your interested in it once view tested made sure full service history.
Only advice I give to anyone get it checked out either by OPC or a good indy.
Can save a lot of heartache and money in the long run.
Good luck.

Same as Cliff has said, check the service history.
Also ask about the roof rear drains to make sure these are clear because if/when these can become blocked, water then can overflow into the cabin and can play havoc with the "body" electronic control unit" (which is underneath the passenger seat) which controls the roof, central locking, alarm etc and can be expensive to fix.
My 981 had this problem before I bought it and lucky for me, it was the previous owner that had all the grief although it was fixed under warranty.
Air conditioning condensers and radiators in the front bumper side ducts are prone to damage from stones and leaf debris etc siting in the bottom of the ducts causing corrosion to the lower edges of the heat exchangers (the ac condensers more than the radiators) so have a look in the bottom of the ducts to make sure they are clear.
Happy hunting.

Thanks Keith for the comprehensive advice. Will make sure the hubbster checks out all the relevant nooks and crannies [:D] lol

The viewing went really well and I picked up my new car last Sunday! I still can’t believe I own a Porsche after years of fantasising about getting one ?? I have uploaded a photo of her (which I hope you can see) and she is a beaut. Already plotting what we can reasonably retrofit- namely cruise control and CarPlay but so happy with her. Looking forward to our first road trip...

If it isn't already fitted PSE is a must have option. I had mine done and transformed the enjoyment of my car .Enjoy your car - even a trip to the shops can be great fun .We have even travelled 50 miles to the coast for fish and chips in an evening !!

Wow Adrian! Don’t give me anymore ideas. Will need to remortgage the house at this rate. PSE would be awesome though..eek!!

That’s the plan! And thank god for heated seats- makes such a difference in this vile weather. Word on the street is that driving in the snow in these "bad boys” is a real experience so I guess winter driving isn’t all bad.. [:D]

I am the third owner of my 2012 981 S although the previous owner only had it for only 3 months (long story, well documented on here).
The first owner had it for 4 years and only did 4k miles per year.
I have owned it for nearly 4 years.
It has very few options - heated seats, foldy in mirrors, park assist front/rear, and something else which escapes me its that "important" !!
No sat nav, no PSM, no sports exhaust, etc etc.
Its just a great car to drive for what it is with no gimmicks.
Its all about the engine and handling.
