Hi Guys.

Newbie here.

I have just purchased a 981 Boxster s with Xenon Headlights.
Any suggestions on make lights brighter or show up further along the road rather than right in front of car.
They are awful in the dark.
I don't really want to go down the route of upgraded bulbs as I have an extended warranty with Porsche & don't want to invalidate it.

I did find a previous post on this forum but didn't really give any info about this.

I would suggest you get the bulbs that give you the best light you can and keep the others in the glove box. If the car breaks down change the bulbs back to the originals before calling Porsche and do the same at service time. Personally I can’t see how Porsche would easily know but it’s up to you...
I suppose you have checked if Porsche supply more powerful bulbs!

The standard xenons are very poor in my opinion
i always go with bi xenons with PDLS or LED now
you can get conversion to full bi xenons but you’ll need ballasts etc or it’ll drain your battery
I got mine done at a independent in the midlands
worth ever penny of £500
good luck with the hunt

On the original Xenon headlights there is a trim potentiometer fitted to the rear suspension (lhs visible in wheel arch inboard and in front of wheel). This adjusted the headlamp angle automatically and may be worth checking. A second point, when you switch the headlights on they normally come on pointing very much down but within a fraction of a second come up to the correct angle; is this feature working?

I have had my car since new with Xenons. It is a 986. I have always been happy with the headlights and and have never changed a thing.

I've had mine from new in 2016 with the standard Xenons and never had an issue. I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks Guys.

I will check to make sure that the self levelling system is working. I have read that my bulbs are Litronic Bulbs so don't know if I can get an upgrade. I work for a Motor Factors & they don't list any.
