Really looking forward to getting my new 981 but o so fed up waiting, ordered in late June with delivery expected in early September but seems due to high spec £67k car with sports exhaust that I will be lucky if I see it by mid October, latest in long Line of dates is that may leave on the 1st Oct from Germany by boat but this could take 14 days has to go via Reading GB and on to the dealers.

Question how long are others finding it takes once your is on the bat please.

Should add the dealer is doing its best but seems the Germans and PGB don't provide firm dates.

Hi Martin ... £67k sounds like some MEGA spec you if you get time want to let us all know how you get a 981 to that level [:D]

I enquired about special leathers or PTS and was informed can be done but delivery would be at least 6 months perhaps you have ticked those boxes too hence the delay from the usual 3 months!

Sorry it took so long please find attached the full spec (need to deduct factory collection as they are paying for that)

Either way enough, to get the same in a 991 would be over £100K+ and I just dont need 4 seats all the family are two big for the back seats, also I came from a GT3RS Gen 2 which would mean I would be comparing , also IMO I feel the 981 is the best looking Porsche under £350K in years. For me 0.5sec is not really going to make my life different.

Now be nice to get a delivery date

You certainly have ticked the boxes but what a beautiful car it will be and all for way less than the not so stunning looking 991 S Cabrio [8D]

I am still puzzled by the delivery delay!

Look forward to seeing some pictures when you collect her and also a report on overall driving impressions

I hope to experience the PSE on my 981 PEC day out next month as it is meant to be much improved on past efforts

Dead right, I added that after this list was done, for no other reason than I dont like the look of the 19" wheels , i went for the £900 version not the £2K ones.

Update

Dam Germans did not ship the car on Saturday or Sunday it should of been here this Friday , got copied email from GB that they "hope" the car might be on the ferry on Wednesday so No way car here this week.......bloody hell getting really Pi@@ed off now, starting to think was this the right car to order, quoted 3 months now near 6 months , missed Summer, missed Autumn, might at this rate be mid winter. Funny how just inefficient the Germans can be sometimes.

I am sure it will be lovely but o so sad they can't get times right

Martin - Yes the wait is grim but after 1100 miles in mine, I can assure you it will be the best car you have ever driven. Last weekend we and about 20 other Porsches had a thrash round the Kent countryside. Our 981 "S" was not outshone by GTS/Turbos/911's and what is more, it was considered by all to be a truly outstanding looking motor! You are in for a treat!!!

I waited nine months for my 986, six months for my 987 and four and a half months for my 981, so things are definitely getting better. Despite the frustration, waiting makes your collection even more satisfying - it's part of the Porsche experience. It's worth the wait - the 981 is the best yet, by a street!
