981s PSE OPC Quote

Hi

Joined recently and thought it would be rude not to share my recent experience in obtaining quotes for a PSE.

I have emailed approx 5 different dealers in the southeast region and I’m struggling to get responses even with follow up calls, or the cheapest quote I’ve received is from West London @ nearly £3,200!!

Does anyone have any recent OPC PSE experience that is closer to the 2k mark? I had to convince my self to even contemplate the 2k figure!

As reference ... eight months back I had the nearside, cat-back PSE section on the GT4 replaced under warranty as the `valve - flap` had seized ... outwith warranty that would have cost ~ £2200

On a previous 981 Cayman S with PSE I had it deselected most of the time as I preferred the note higher up in rev band and grew tired of the `popping`

As for dealers` communications ... I have had similar with several, absolutely dire and totally ignorant sales personnel ... much the same as all other brands in my experience

I think the real problem is availability of the retrofit kits - this is the lowest cost way of performing this job. I have had two kits on order for about 6 months now, still without an eta. You can buy the parts separately, but £££.

Parts cost and availability aside Yasin, it will be cheaper to use a reliable Porsche Independent in your area to fit the system. Try Google, have a look at the back of Porsche Post, or have a word with your Club RO for advice.

I paid about £1800 to Leeds OPC back in 2014. The quote from RPM Specialist Cars seems pretty reasonable, and I can certainly say that they are a truly excellent independent with a fabulous reputation here in Yorkshire. I'd have no hesitation in using them to do the work.
