981spyder vs 718 Gts 4.0 thoughts?

I have a GTS on order but i would love to see a comparison of the two as a nice 981 spyder is circa £75k same as a new Gts both are low build numbers but one has a bespoke roof and no gpf the other a better engine/steering (apparently). But I do prefer the X73 suspension over PASM
In an ideal world I would just order a new 718Spyder but i am not worthy and imo it’s not worth paying £20k more for a secondhand one over a new Gts!
Thoughts?

The thing is a GTS is almost 90% 718 spyder for 5 year old Spyder money would his conclusion be the same at a shared price point!

My problem with a 981 is the current price tag of 981 which for £10-15k gets the newer car hence a new Gts for £70-75k(dependence on options) looks good value and addresses his issues with the new spyder being too track focused.

I agree and only a decent test drive will assist you with your final decision which way to jump as both your choices have equal plus's and minus's

As my Spyder is a garage queen and not a daily driver I know which one fits my needs the best and no GPF, no stop start and no 3 cylinder switching also is a plus for my pleasure driving needs only

If it was my daily driver then those mod cons would have an upside appeal

You can only tell by driving the cars, objectively the new GTS4.0 has to win out, more performance from stronger, more torquey and more powerful engine, better chassis, better steering. The sports PASM on GTS4.0 is excellent, giving great control and flat handling but also a ridiculously good ride. Plus it doesn't have a jutting from splitter to catch on bumps and dips. It also has proper roof meaning you can enjoy top down motoring more easily and more often.

it doesn't sound as loud as a 981 Spyder, nor does out have pops and crackles (a good or bad thing depending upon your preference). Nor does it have that exclusivity that a Spyder has. The cachet of a mad roof. And of course, its a new car, new car tech, warranty, no concerns about how its been treated etc.

So only you can decide if the 981 Spyder's character and noise beats the objective advantages of a GTS4.0.

It may depend upon your taste regarding looks. When I ordered my GTS I was offered a few second hand spiders.

They were not for me. Not to my taste and a pain to pop the hood.

I have just done a track day in my GTS and was quite surprised at how many cars didn’t pass me.

The GTS 4.0 is a far faster car car than I can ever manage. I can’t see why I would ever need the attributes of a Spider. Only my opinion.
