986 Anniversary model airbox

Does anyone know the exact difference between the 986S and the 04 ish 986 Anniversary induction box / parts?

Before i bought my 04 'S' i drove several anniversary models but gave up looking when mine came up for sale however the sound of those things is amazing.

I have just read the post about 996 airbox mods but wondered if i could just swap mine for the one used on anniversary cars? Is it this that gives the nice sound or are the exhausts different? ( i think it is an intake sound....)

Thanks in advance! (can anyone beat Rich Hamilton to this one? He seems to answer every one of my specific questions!)

It's a different airbox on the Anniversary edition Spyder. Part Number: 987.110.021.00 - £302.18 inc VAT. The exhaust appears to be the same as the S.

Edit: That's the standard 987 airbox. The only snag is that it uses a different MAF, so it might not be a simple swap.

Thanks Richard!!

Does anyone know if its as simple as swapping the MAF and the airbox? How much is the MAF?

Could i do it myself or is it a bit involved?

Getting excited now!

Thanks Richard.

Sounds a bit of a bigger job than i had in mind...... will have a read and see if i want the sound badly enough to justify the headache and skinned knuckles!

Another interesting question.

When the 2004 special edition came out Porsche claimed a slight hp increase over the standard S. I think it was 8 hp. We all wondered where that extra 8 hp came from. Once the parts list came out for the 2004 special edition it was easy to figure out that the special edition was using the air box and other intake parts from the 987, yet the 987 was a year away.

Until now no one has asked what it would take to retrofit the special edition intake to a standard S, and I would have to ask one of the mechanics.
