Good though![]

I have issues with some of the valuations used in stuff like this, as they encourage people to believe that they can pick up wonderful cars cheaply. In reality, the very best cars sell for more than they are suggesting. Most average to good 968's are likely to have a backlog of work needing done, which is why they are cheaper.
It would be helpful to be more realistic about the sort of bills you are likely to face if you buy an average car, which I think they are underestimating. Most cars are likely to need a service, new belts, cam chain (and possibly a cam too) and very probably having the plates done on the brakes. Granted they cover all this, but put a 968 into a decent specialist and ask them to attend to all of this lot, and it will be a damned sight more than the hundreds they seem to suggest.
Go on ... ask me how I know!

Just been reading that buyers' guide...
Unbeknown to the Blue Shadow, I have for some time been considering replacing the Lupo GTi. We could do with more luggage room and I'd like more refinement, bigger engine, etc., even though it will be an 'everyday' car.
One possibility was an A3 (which would have the advantage of sending the BS into apoplexy). Desired spec quickly grew to be 4WD, 6 cylinders (3.2), plus the DSG gearbox - mega bucks for a car that will mainly be used for commuting, etc.
However, one other (even more secret) possibility is a 968. Unlikely to happen (I don't mind not having a 'new' car, but 1994 at the latest is really older than I want to go), but you never know.
What are the prospects of finding an absolute minter, and at what kind of price would it be pitched? Coupe, pref. Sport, pref no sunroof, but must have air-con?
Didn't really take much note of access to 968 seats when checking yours out (with Paula in mind) - mind posting a pic showing sill depth, etc?
Ta.
PS. You glued that trim yet? []

Minters do exist, and prices seem to be all over the place too ... I know of folk buying really nice original cars privately for £12k, yet as I type this there is a non-Porsche garage in Edinburgh seems to think it's going to get £19k for a Club Sport (me thinks not! [])
Some folk will tell you air con is commonplace, yet in my experience it is rare. But hey, what would I know [8D]
Tell me in more detail off list what you need to know about rear access, and I'll take pics for you.
My advice would be for you to look for a tiptronical car, better suited for what you want it for, less likely to have been thrashed, and probably cheaper as they are less sought after by track day loonies (and similar madmen who go to the north of Scotland on driving holidays [])

I'm really in the total opposite of a hurry AND if I DID go for a 968, I'd like a lower mileage and not red (already got one red Porsche!).
BUT - your car does look a very tempting prospect, Alex.
I WILL give it some serious thought.
I'm off on holiday for a week, but feel free to send more pics to me at xxxboggiano@btopenworld.comyyy (remove the xs and ys, of course). Pref detailed shots of any wear and tear marks (eg sill scuffs, wheel marks, etc., plus engine bay and stone chips - don't worry, I cam see it's a really nice example and won't think the car is no good, but can you show me the bits I would be searching out as a buyer, please?)
Also - what are you car's three WORST points?
Like I say - I know it's good, but this can help put me 'on the spot'.
Thx.
