Hello,

I have a 2000 2.7 Boxster with 72000 on the clock. I think the clutch is about due, not that it slips yet but bites quite high. Can someone explain if buy a clutch do I need to replace something called a flywheel too ?

Also how do you change the gearbox oil , is it a sealed unit.

Sorry if I sound a bit basic but if you don't know you don't know.

Also whats a better clutch LUK or SACHS ?

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you

Paul

My year 2000 2.7 is on 110,000 miles. The previous owners kept all of the Porsche centre receipts. It had a clutch at 60,000 and an RMS. Not sure if the clutch was gone or the RMS, no flywheel in the history. It's probably worth getting the RMS if the clutch comes out the flywheel should be checked but is unlikely to be worn out.

Flywheel is made by LuK , clutch is Sachs. If you are concerned about intermediate shaft failure it s about 500 extra for the IMS upgrade to be done whilst the clutch , flywheel and rms are being done.
